I don’t understand if this is a real LC thread or there’s a theme but I need a place to cry.
Today I had to put my cat down. I’ve had her for 15 years which is over half of my life. I’m not sure how you’re supposed to move on from something that was with you for so long. Now I’m really sad and normally when I’m really sad I could pet her and feel better.
My family came up for the process and we had lunch and cried and shared memories but now I’m on my own. I’ve been out of a long term relationship for a couple months and I just wish there was someone by my side during this.
I know I’m extremely lucky for this to be true but this is legitimately one of the saddest days of my life.
Hot take being sad sucks.

Her name was Tinkerbell. She followed me home one night when I was walking the neighborhood and then again the next day so I took her in and didn’t look back.

Tinkerbell sounds like she was pretty lucky.
Truth is, this will be the first of many cats that you lose along the way. She may always be the most special, but you’ll be able find more animals that you’ll love.
I know people say their pets are like kids to them, but kids don’t follow you home. I’d go get a kitten (or a rescue) tomorrow if I were you, I recognize others have a drastically different approach to all of it tho. I think the world is largely what you make it. Good luck.
