Which day will the kaiju attack be?

Don’t know, but I think I’m going to stay indoors today just in case.

Update:

The Delta aircraft, Airbus’s smallest jetliner, was set to depart for San Francisco, and police said its engines were rotating when investigators found Efinger.

“The specific stage of engine operation remains under investigation,” police said in a Tuesday news release.

Weisberg confirmed Wednesday that Efinger’s body was intact when officers pulled him from the engine cowling. Officers tried CPR and rendered naloxone, but Efinger was pronounced dead at the scene.

We are not the same. You think that guy is a creep because his entire house is a shrine to a videogame character. I think he is a creep because Sayaka is a bottom-tier Danganronpa character who’s barely even in the game.

Glad to hear you’re okay. Biggest earthquake I’ve ever been in was 7.0, a 7.6 is… (does math)… about four times stronger? holy smokes.

7.6 is 4x stronger than 7.0? To be clear, The Noto Peninsula, the earthquake’s epicenter, reached that magnitude. Here in my area we experienced about a 5.0. Still strong enough to crack a couple walls and knock over a few statues at the Shrine across the street.

I did experience a 7 back in 2004. That time I thought there was a good chance I might die.

It’s a logarithmic scale. 10^7.6 / 10^7 is approximately 4, so math checks out. But that’s just the amplitude of the wave on the seismograph, as I understand it. The energy released scales to a power of 1.5, so a 7.6 releases 8 times as much energy as a 7.0, if my reading is correct. If you experienced a 7.0, that was 1000 times the energy of a 5.0.

I double-checked, it was actually 6.9, I was 60-ish miles away in San Francisco. That was some shit.

Thanks. My math skills are nowhere near developed enough to calculate all that. But I will say that the 7 I experienced*** wasn’t anywhere close to 1000x the intensity of a 5. Significantly more intense, but probably not even 2x , much less 1000x.

My own simplified system goes something like this:

1 - A tiny little wobble
2 - A little rattle
3 - Oh, that was concerning
4 - Yikes
5 - Oh shit, under the table
6 - Shit your pants
7- Find god–and pray to him or her or it
8 - Fukushima–we’re all gonna die
9 - Armagedon

(the 5 the other day no fun; hope to never experience 8 or 9).

***I stand corrected. What I thought was a 7 back in 2004 was, according to my wife “only” a 5 (where we were; the epicenter was a 7), so that’s the worst I’ve experienced. But if those are 5s, I don’t even want to be anywhere near a 7.

Ok well really been online a lot lately, trying to break the curse, have resorted to turning my Home Screen background and safari start page to this screen shot, which freaks me out and causes me to put away my phone quickly.

Anyways hope everyone has a nice evening, I swear I’m not checking this dang website until tomorrow!

I struggle with this, a lot. In my defense, the data from the article shows that spending a lot of time online is for the highly paid and educated.

Sounds horrible though doesn’t it? Oh yeah, I am very rich and smart, and with my wisdom and money, I could do anything, and so I choose to spend my time on my iPhone with T-Mobile 5G.

I bet the increase in people who are educated and highly paid who say they’re online is entirely because they can afford good technology, and if you gave a free phone and internet to anyone without it they’d be similarly addicted.

Anyways yesterday and today went pretty well, really just looking for anything to break this curse, I do enough fun activities where I’m fully present without my phone so I don’t feel too bad, but I just spend too much of my free time teathered too this thing.

I’ll read an article about how to decrease screen time and then won’t do anything about it, I actually know a guy who wrote a book about how to live life without technology, and it was great, while I was reading it, and then I did nothing.
