The Former Presidency of Donald J. Trump, Volume XI: The Crypt Keeper Years

Someone needs to tell that personal injury lawyer that taking depositions remotely is ok and not a big deal.

“One call, that’s all.”

Pretty clear all the republicans posturing about calling witnesses is backfiring on them.

At this point the republicans who are going to vote to acquit need to be weighed down with as much fact and reality as possible.

Trump’s lawyer is like a dumbass redneck with a rap sheet that offers the cop to search his car.

Feeling outraged that a defense can be this bad twice and he still gets acquitted. These guys are worse than Saul Goodman s1, literally laughed out of court, and Trump is gonna be fine?!

I’m all for witnesses. Sure it might not change the outcome but it needs to be heard.

Can Graham or Trump’s lawyers call 1,000 witnesses if they want to? I thought Schumer controls the list of witnesses.

I’ve heard that there will be a separate vote (technically to approve subpoenas) for each witness. So defense won’t be able to call any witnesses that the Dems don’t support. Although it sounds like some other procedural rules need to be worked out. It’s possible that this results in some type of deal where each side gets the same number of witnesses.

like the “we’re gonna call 300 witnesses” threat seems pretty obviously empty, the counter is “ok we can call 300 too, starting with cruz and hawley, how many do you think are willing to perjure themselves?”

but the “vote on each subponea” plan seems pretty solid too

Mr. Merkley said that both legal teams had retreated to devise their strategies, such as whether to call for individual witnesses or reach an agreement on the number of witnesses each side could call.

This is like the last gasp of all the lawbros and all the #Resistance Twitter slappies who still think there’s going to be some accountability somehow for Republicans.”It’s vitally important we call witnesses!” Nah, dude. We’ve all watched 5 years of Trumpism, not a single mind is going to be changed by any of this. Just move on and try to find something productive to do.

Most of them. Nothing will happen even if they are caught in their lies.

On the other hand, having witnesses may get Trump to willingly testify. I’m sure he’s seething with rage right now.

Whatever pisses Trump off the most is the best thing to do.
