I call upon all of you to do your duty.
I’m already doing all I can to support French winemakers battered by US trade tariffs!
What do you do when your significant other asks you to pick up their car from the mechanic? Well, if the mechanic is .2 miles from Modern Times Brewery, you say OK.
West Coast IPA collaboration with another local brewer, North Park Brewery.
slow pony in the beer thread! I really enjoyed this beer.
I went to modern times last week and got broken shadows ipa which i didnt realize had a strong juicy yeast strain so it wasnt my thing and thundera, a hazy ipa which was pretty good.
I’ve been enjoying fresh ipas but I just got my kegerator working again with a nice lager and the price is dirt cheap compared to $6 pint cans.
That’s why that beer looked familiar! I picked up 6 different 4 packs while I was there including the Thundera and Broken Shadows.
I’m jealous of your kegerator.
Agree it’s solid. I toured their brewery last year up in Chico.
Goddam I miss brewery tours and trivia nights.
Watcha Thinkin? I’m thinking I will not be ponied again!
Introducing the Whatcha Thinkin collab between Modern Times and Green Cheek Beer Co. a west coast style IPA.
I like it. Citrusy and bitter enough to enjoy it the way an IPA should be enjoyed, but not overpowering in either respect.
Accompanied with a Sandy Ridge sativa dominant hybrid, vaped at 187 C.
So I already posted this year’s Deth’s Tar (fyi it’s pronounced “deeth” based on the brewer’s last name) but now it’s time for a variant.
Deth by Cherries - it’s really good. BA variants are always interesting and this one is no exception. My particular palate loves flavors that don’t punch me in the face. With BA beers, I want to explore the barrel and have the adjuncts chip in and not be the focal point (with the exception of coffee.) This meets that. The cherries are there but they give you quick light jabs from the left and right while allowing you to hone in on the dark chocolate, vanilla, and slight heat from the barrel.
Revolution has been neck and neck with Goose over the past few years and this one is right in line with that. Great beer and I’m happy I have a 4 pack (3 left, now) to enjoy over the winter.
Oh man, for a second I thought this was goofyballer posting this and my head nearly exploded.
Yeah, Revolution’s barrel program crushes. I haven’t lived in Chicago for 10 years now, but I’d definitely be stocking up if I could. Right now, I think I have a few cans of Straight Jacket and a 4-pack of Cafe Deth. I thought their 10-year anniversary beer was fantastic.
Also, Tuesday was 12/01/20, so apparently half of the doofuses on Facebook were chugging two bottles of Dogfish Head 120 minute. I can’t imagine how hellish that would be.
Black Currant, Apricot, Vanilla Milkshake NEIPA and a milk stout for the wife. One of the best breweries out there right now.
This prompted me to open one.
Yeah, Revolution is crushing it. Also prefer the 12 oz can to a 15 oz bottle. I’m going to be buzzed enough as it is.
Edit: This beer is going down smoothly and seems like the kind of thing that’s going to lead to some bad online purchasing decisions. Can’t wait to wake up to discover that I’ve ordered a treadmill and/or a case of beer from Belgium.
Haha, it took me like 5 minutes to try to figure out how many drinks you were describing with this sentence.
Ehh might be OK. Adjunct IPAs are usually disappointing, but not exclusively so.
I am generally a little mad at NEIPAs for crowding out the IPA market to the detriment of the selection of West Coast IPAs out there. In fact any beer that is not a West Coast IPA or Red IPA needs to provide me with a paragraph or two justifying why it exists.
Does everyone have a go-to easy drinking “mainstream” beer? Mine is definitely
Probably because my dad has drank it forever so it just feels natural to fall back on. When I’m not drinking a double NEIPA or stout or something, 9/10 times it’ll be a Stella that I’m drinking.
I cycle between Coors Banquet, High Life, or PBR if I’m at a dive bar or lake or something.
Good call. I actually tend to go High Life if I’m at a bar. Stella at home. I just haven’t been to a bar in forever so I was focused on Stella.
Not really anything mainstream, but when I want to drink more light and refreshing beers I go for things like Kolsch, Hefeweizens, old school lightly hopped and light alcohol Saisons, Patersbiers, Czech pilsners, Berliner Weisse, American Wheat ales, Gose, etc. (These were either craft beers or homebrews., although many of the hefe’s were kind of mainstream.)
I also used to brew a really light killer honey rye that often filled one of the 3 taps in my dining room.
Include Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and this would have been my answer a few years back. Now if I’m having a heavy drinking day I’ll usually just rotate between some lighter craft stuff and seltzers.
