The 2020 Republican National Convention: There will be blood. And soil.

Trump hasn’t even done things he said and also said the exact opposite.

He has watched a lot of TV though.

Yeah that doesn’t work. Trust me. I’ve said I don’t like them and they’re basically Republicans but the FNC is too stronk. They’re super mega ultra communist Marxist socialist liberals who have the most liberal voting records ever. They’re as scary as Bernie all of a sudden.

So like 5% of the country watched last night, with 7m watching on Fox.

This is an occasional reminder that the vast majority of people don’t pay much attention to politics (though.they often have opinions). We’re not so much up against 40% of the country as against 5-10% that a clueless 30% gets its cues from based on broader cultural, demographic, and religious affinities.

This story man, wreck the beehives then threaten to sue if they don’t remove said wrecked beehives instead of first trying oh I don’t know something like hey, would you move the beehives? They’re on my side of the property line. (which a lot of places, the fence isn’t where the line is because only a complete jackass knows where the line actually is)

they have sued neighbors for making changes to a gravel road

well I don’t know how that could be a thing

Mark McCloskey sued a former employer for wrongful termination and his sister, father and his father’s caretaker for defamation.

The McCloskeys have filed at least two “quiet title” suits asserting squatter’s rights on land they’ve occupied openly and hostilely — their terms — and claimed as their own

They sued a man who sold them a Maserati they claimed was supposed to come with a box of hard-to-find parts.

I thought they were just stupid rich assholes but they are actually stupid super rich assholes. In other words, definitely should’ve been the keynote speaker of this.

I don’t know if I could handle that if my mom started going full blown down that path.

Even if I was rooting for them?

This is just legal language, two of the elements required to establish ownership via adverse possession. My sense is that adverse possession was a semi-important doctrine during 19th century westward expansion but now it’s mainly just a thing for law students and asshole lawyers.

She also has hot takes like we should bring back head of household voting (in which married couples get one vote. She later clarified that in cases where the couple disagreed, “godly” couples would defer to the man)

I’m so fucking tired of prejudice.

I’m tired of consoling 7-year-olds who ask me why everyone wants to keep their families out of America.

I’m tired of working in correctional facilities and seeing 90% minority kids whose only real crime is being born into an inescapable life of trauma and disenfranchisement.

I’m tired of developing safety plans with teenagers who are suicidally terrified of the prejudice they’ll face when coming out.

I’m tired of talking to 12-year-olds who view their lives as being limited by the color of their skin instead of defined by their capabilities.

I’m tired of seeing kids feel hated, limited, and lost because of the conditions and packages they were born into. And I am so fucking tired of seeing them proven right.

I would love for the democrats to push for more than incremental change, but there are so still many families whose lives hang in the balance of increments. I hope we have a real chance to fight for them.
