I have been procrastinating my application for my spouse visa in the Philippines for MONTHS and it was really stressing me out.
With a bit of coaching from ChatGPT, I set myself a five minute timer and said I would just do 5 minutes.
An hour later, and it turns outs it pretty simple and I should be able to get it submitted on Monday.
There’s still a chance I have to go through a whole different process first, but now it’s a known monster not a vague stressful uncertainty.

I’ve replaced batteries. The first time it didn’t go that well. The screen delaminated in a couple of spots. I still have that phone. Google AI on the Samsung S6: “it… marked a shift away from user-replaceable batteries and expandable storage”. I recently replaced the battery again. It works for some things where I don’t want to risk my newer phone. Suck it Samsung.

My girlfriend is moving in with me. Our house is 102 years old, so one thing that means is very limited closet space. I wanted to buy an armoire/wardrobe, and was looking for something with specific functionality like having an area with shelves, an area with drawers, and an area to hang stuff. We wanted something of quality, and something that would look nice in our house that has all original hardwood floors.
I found this James Shoolbred piece from London, made sometime between 1880 and 1910. It was being sold by a local antique dealer, and they were asking $750. After doing our research we decided our target price was going to be $450. We bought it for $400 after a short negotiation. This was my first time negotiating something of this nature, and getting them down to below my target without too much hassle felt like a pretty nice small win.
We managed to get it into the house with the help of my dad and his trailer, but then found out it wasn’t going to make the turn under and around the hallway door and into the bedroom. After removing the top front decorative piece, which was no small task, we were able to just barely maneuver it by tilting and k-turning and tilting the other way. Like a puzzle where you have to plan out every move ahead of time, we executed it and managed to finally get it into the bedroom. Now we just need to clean it and restore it some, and it should be a very nice piece of furniture for us for years to come. A satisfying small win.
