Lol deplorables really hate Steph Curry so I assume Dr. Fauci is basically done advising the president after this. Going to be way triggered that he’s taking orders from Steph and not Trump. Trump will see one video of Fauci complementing Steph and his White House pass will be revoked on the spot.

The death toll in the US could be 5000 or 10000 for all we know now.

If they’d just come out and say, “We don’t have enough tests so unfortunately we have to limit them somehow and this is how we are doing it,” I think most people would be fine with it. But framing it as “you haven’t been to Chiner or Italy so you don’t need a test” is just dumb and insulting to our intelligence.

He’s probably trying to get himself fired at this point. He has to be disgusted that everything he’s been recommending has either been ignored or contradicted by the administration. Probably figures that the audience listening to Steph would be more likely to take him seriously than the ones listening to Trump. People listening to Trump either think coronavirus is bullshit or hate his guts and are already doing what Fauci has said.
Resigning would be worse for him than getting fired.

Absolutely. I watched that NYT video I linked above and the ER doctor was talking about how they’re getting car crash victims into the ER, and they’re seeing likely indicators of covid when they do x-rays or MRIs or whatever (like spots/masses in the lungs), but they’re obviously not going to test those people. And if they die, it’s going to be recorded as a car crash with no hint of covid. I mean, I guess that’s how it should work - it’s likely that lots of people die from an accident without knowing that they had developed cancer, for example. But with this it’s just so stunningly obvious that we have absolutely no idea. I’m trying to be optimistic that the reported curve is overly steep, but there’s absolutely no reason to believe that versus the opposite.
If I could figure out how to post it that way I would. I even copy the URL to a browser and then copy the URL and paste it here and it just inserts the link from Apple News

What I like is that my mother’s boyfriend just recently had an apartment building constructed in NYC and now coronavirus is preventing him from getting renters since nobody can move their stuff during a pandemic.
He’s an ins0 level deplorable asshole and I hope that everybody who has already rented from him goes on a rent strike.

Panic is driven by fear, which is driven by ignorance.
When people don’t know what to expect, because their government is clearly lying to them, they have to take matters into their own hands.
Downplaying the danger of the virus is exactly what spurred the panic to begin with. Had this administration come forward in February saying “there is a new flu on the horizon, we are taking steps to contain and prepare for it, and here’s the plan…” we would not be in a situation where people are buying all of the toilet paper.
Instead, we have this asshat moving from “nothing to see here, ignore everybody getting sick” to telling people that they need to die and risk weeks of horrific respiratory ailment because otherwise everyone else will starve.

BTW, how has CBS not fast tracked their new The Stand series? Is there any better time for it than right now? Fucking Contagion would have cracked the top 5 at the box office if theaters were still open and they re-released it today

Wouldn’t have ended the pandemic task force, would have followed the guidelines, wouldn’t have downplayed it and convinced half the country it was a hoax (and that half would be terrified because of FoxNews).
Seriously people need to get a grip. Some things play out the same but some are massively bettter.
