We’re getting there. 1100 people died from the heat at the Hajj a couple weeks ago and 600 in Pakistan this week. Trump will be turning the heat up more in the next four years.

Ukraine is cooked if Trump wins. NATO might be cooked, which would be very bad for long term world stability. SCOTUS is super cooked, although I guess it’s already cooked anyway. Having a sitting president talking about turning Gaza to glass will be fun.
I worry about who learned more from Trump’s first go-round: 1) our govt institutions on how to protect themself from Trump’s attempts to destroy them, or 2) Trump’s team on how to do the job right this time.

No. At least as far as getting your name on the ballot goes. So long as the DNC’s own rules have been followed the nominee put forward at convention will be the candidate on the ballot in each and every state.
Don’t know about the campaign finance argument, but the ballot one turns out to be incorrect.
The New York Times op-ed is understandably getting a lot of attention, but based on what I understand about the New York Times based on the last several years that seems more to me like a hollow self serving effort to deflect all blame if Trump wins again. They have been justifiably criticized for their coverage of Trump in the past, now they can just go “don’t blame us, we called on Joe to resign!” even though they did so way too late to have any impact, and ignoring that they hold Joe to a much higher standard tha Ronald McHitler.

A lot of things can be true at once. Biden should step aside and also he could win. Noted.
The core frustration is that basically every millennial and younger not on the party payroll has been warning about this exact thing for like 5 years and we were all told to shut up and fall in line, WE DID, and now it’s happening exactly as we feared and the response from people who will be dead when the consequences come is, shocker, shut up and fall in line. Again.
Also as much as we hate what our side has become holy shit man. If republicans ran Haley + normal down ballot candidates they would have transformational majorities.

Didn’t all the young people want Bernie? He’s even older than Biden! The actual good choices at every stage (O’Malley, Klobuchar, Whitmer) were never remotely possible. The vast majority of people are either so low-info that they’ll glom onto whoever floats into their field of vision for whatever reason (HRC, Biden, Newsom) or such politics junkies that they get into weird awful dead-end fandoms (Bernie, Warren, Harris (for a brief but consequential honeymoon period), Mayor Pete). Trump’s superpower is that he’s a unity candidate for the shiny object caucus and the terminally online bloc.
American politics is just structurally broken by primaries and campaign finance and our ancient constitutional arrangements. People want to blame some person or group of people making bad decisions somewhere (the “eDems”), but there are no such people. We’re not looking at a marionette being guided by a wicked or foolish puppeteer, it’s Frankenstein’s monster just shambling around beyond human control.

It would be kind of nice to know exactly what Biden’s handlers put him through in the days before the debate. He looked like an 81 year old guy who had been up all night, five nights in a row, cramming for his midterms. Really all he needs to do is be himself and fling some bullshit at his questioners just like Trump does. I think he was hoarse from practicing for several hours a day over the preceding days.

Biden looked “older” than he has previously. Why is that? (Yes I know how age works)
If it’s as bad as it looked then his handlers might end up first-ballot HOFers for the fall of the republic.
The most important job a president has is to surround himself with a competent cabinet and set of advisors. Hard to argue that Biden has in any way failed in that regard. At some point the media owes it to the American people to emphasize that over him being a shit candidate.

Sorry but this is a really bad take. The lesson isn’t be more of a cult. There is no fair argument that Biden is the best the left can do. He simply should not be president. He cannot do the job as a huge part of the job is convincing the public you can do it.

They created a 128 node binomial tree that had a rebuttal for every one of trumps possible answers and made Biden stay up 5 hours past his normal bedtime trying to memorize it and then they all gave each other high fives and celebrated how they were going to own Trump using logic and reasoning.

This is obviously valid but it’s not just age, it’s vibes. Bernie never would have shown that badly and if he was going to he wouldn’t run. This is uniquely narcissistic and selfish, with all kinds of self interested enabling. And fuck Obama man, all the guy ever surfaces to say is “shut up.”
