Texas voter turn out has always been really low for a while. A lot of it goes into it doesn’t matter if we vote.
I just don’t know that the previous voting margins in those counties mean that they extremely high early voting is going to follow along. Democratic voting has been suppressed for a while across the state, and as Bored noted none of those places are really hardcore areas where there are no blue voters.
Honestly for Texas to have any chance of coming close to flipping, it will require increased democratic voting from these suburban counties. Increased voting in Harris County etc won’t get the job done.
We will see how it shakes out, but I view the increased voting across the state to be a very positive sign for Democrats.
Even if all of this is positive for Democrats they could still fall short.
This is why I have an issue when people don’t vote or talk about not voting because their state is not in play. It’s not in play until it is, and if you spend years telling people not to bother it hurts when an actual opportunity to flip a state comes.
There are still plenty people in Texas who won’t vote because they think it does not matter.
