Getting a bit misty in here. Seriously the sentiment is (beyond) nice and comes at a good time.
Honestly a lot of the conversation lately in various threads about how the forum means more to X than they mean to the forum has resonated. I was already there but it crystalized things a bit, and now this.
To be clear, it’s not that you all don’t appreciate what I provide and I’m so special or whatever.
It’s that I’ve eschewed friendships or potential new ones in real life bc they’re not stimulating or let me down and/or a myriad of different things, but at the end of the day I don’t really have any friends outside of my wife (which is more recent than my internet posting) and lean on interactions here and the former spot to fill that void. The fact that I’m an only child with no extended family exacerbates the issue. It’s a me thing but I’m glad to find some kindred spirits or at least people that like me.
I guard against posting too much as, to be honest, I feel responsible for ruining the SE FACK due to my chattiness and need for correspondence (it was before my relationship with my wife was solidified 4-5 years ago and therefore sometime prior). So me ending up mentioned in a thread asking me to post more is ironically poetic.
Ultimately I was looking for kinship and found it among a few posters, similar to here, but rubbed those less needy wrong. I’m in a different spot now but still yearn for fellowship and debate. Being around smart people is the nuts, I appreciate each of you and please know that you are legitimately intelligent or you wouldn’t be here.
Everyone, keep posting and don’t drift away. Do as I say and not as I do, as well.
