Started listening to 5-4. Bush v gore was way before my time so I didn’t really know what happened but now I’m furious.
If they win and dont pack the court I’m done with politics

I’ve said this 4-5 times in my adult life over things and I’m in my mid 30’s.
Joe Rogan is such a dumbass
Deets? What did that idiot do now?
This isn’t a podcast, so if there is a more appropriate thread, please let me know. I have been binging Gerald Horne videos on youtube. Historian, activist, author.
“The award-winning author of more than thirty books, discusses his book “The Counter-Revolution of 1776” which argues that for the country’s forefathers, “freedom” meant the right to keep others enslaved—and that the consequences of this definition continue into the present in the form of a racialized conservatism and a persistent racism targeting the descendants of the enslaved.”
Libtertarian bear town guy is the guest on the new Chapo, OK interview.
Very good 8 part podcast on Silvio Berlusconi. The parallels with Trump are uncanny.
God I had blocked out the memory of Berlusconi. I remember making lots and lots of jokes about him when he was in power in Italy. Now I know that they had the milder version of what we were about to get absolutely wrecked by.
I blew through this You’re Wrong About series and it was fantastic. Thanks.
Man, I’m really just unable to feel any sort of sympathy for assange after the actions of wikileaks during the 2016 election, and I couldn’t even make it halfway through the episode. I’m probably incredibly misinformed, but their actions certainly seemed agenda driven, not just reporting the news.
Sympathy? You don’t have to feel sympathy for Assange as a person to find his prosecution unconscionable and dangerous. What he’s being prosecuted for is journalism and sets a terrible precedent, and has absolutely nothing to do with whatever he did during the 2016 election that made you mad at him. Just because you hate him doesn’t mean that you should cheer his prosecution under the Espionage Act for doing journalism.
But don’t take my word for it.
Yep. Not much to add to this. They repeatedly make the distinction that he’s merely a journalist reporting the information provided to him (exposing US war crimes, for example), as opposed to a hacker or someone procuring said information.
The fact that he will spend more time in prison that any of the soldiers responsible for the US war crime they cover in the episode is a travesty.
My homegirl Brooke Gladstone has been so consistently on point throughout the Trump era, idk why On The Media isn’t getting more love here. The Trumpers are flooding the zone with bullshit. It’s not about winning arguments, it’s about flooding the zone with so much bullshit that normal people give up and look away. PS: you don’t have to automatically cover every damn thing the president says. In a world where the president shamelessly lies constantly, it’s not a news event when he gets on a podium and babbles about antifa. You are not informing your viewers by signal boosting the insane shit America’s crazy uncle retweets. “The President Says X” is not automatically newsworthy when the president tweets 40 lies before lunchtime. You are just flooding the zone with mountains of garbage that turns away casual voters.
On The Media is always solid.
Thanks for this recommendation. Excellent but also very upsetting. I had never heard “view from nowhere,” which is a great term.
Except the last bit where they’re downplaying the militia in Michigan with the argument being “Come ooon the were never gonna do it”. They really hate the fbi.
It’s been frustrating listening to Chapo ever since Bernie lost. They’re pretending they can’t see a single difference between Trump and Biden.
