Omicron, Boosters, and Asymptomatic Spread

Let’s break this tie with your favorite, the BBC:

The misleading “17,000” figure was spread by influential accounts online. On 14 January, former Islamist turned counter-extremism activist Maajid Nawaz tweeted that the figures were evidence of “narrative collapse”, implying the larger reported death figures were not genuine.
Then on 20 January, Dr John Campbell, a retired nurse educator who has amassed a huge following on YouTube, released a video describing the figures as a “huge story” and suggested Covid deaths were “much lower than mainstream media seems to have been intimating”.

OK, but I’m not going to answer a barrage of questions and I’m not going to re-litigate who said what or who was mean first. Let’s try to lower the temperature and move on.

My post referred to you bringing up Dr John first, not that I agreed with the clickbait video.

The BBC refers to the ONS stats the video was based off - something, at best, you conveniently forgot to mention, or just plain didn’t understand.

‘Dr John says covid deaths are 10% of actual, therefore moron’ is a little different than ‘Government stats indicate 10% had no underlyer’ but, nice clickbait CN - makes me wonder whether you’re capable of analysing all these medical studies correctly.

He’s defended that exact video an hour ago and defended it when I posted it. If he wanted to say ‘hey yeah I got fooled by that charlatan’ or even ‘yeah that video is dumb’ you’d have a great point.

But he’s not. Again JT, you are obsessed with pulling one over wookie or me or whoever. Trust me, I don’t give a shit. One day you’ll be 100% right about something and none of us will care, and you’ll get no satisfaction or a good feeling of revenge from that time your feelings got hurt

and:

This is defending nurse John. He did a lot more than just report those numbers and is in fact part of a group of YouTubers that spread disinformation.

Just incredible that you think this means anything at all.

This is pathetic but you’ll keep posting through it I’m sure.

So if I can find an unvaccinated person who didn’t get tested for covid when displaying mild respiratory symptoms, I get to rub it in your face as incontrovertible proof that you’re wrong?

That sounds like he didn’t get tested because he was isolated and that he would probably get tested if he was not so isolated, such as traveling for work.

So you’re so mad that you’re going through a bunch of old posts and trying to frame them to embarrass me and others? Good god this is such a sad life. Good luck dude. You should really reevaluate your choices.

I don’t think anyone should silence themselves, but it turns into a back and forth because everyone is quick to respond, shutting out people who aren’t as involved in the debate and not on the forum all day from asking questions or making points if their own.

It might help if some posters self-throttled and chose to wait a couple of hours to reply to give the conversation time to breathe.

He posted about seemingly every new variant as if they were a crisis, a stopped clock is right twice a day and all.

The rest of your questions range from ridiculous to irrelevant so have fun JAQing off.

I’m not name-calling anyone. But a take that the vaccines don’t have the efficacy that numerous studies have proven they have is science denial. He can make his arguments about community spread and PPE without contradicting the science and pushing lies about vaccine efficacy.

Calling JT an anti-vaxxer seems out of line. Seems like a very small concession if you’d stop doing that and maybe JT would return the favor by dialing down his posting.
