Nothing says “I’m a badass” like self-inflicted CTE.

I think acting crazy and aggressive in these spots is a very +EV bluff, if you can pull it off (I know I can’t). It’s kind of like the George line on the Seinfeld Opposite episode.

The other guy really has to think. He could get injured. He could even lose (see Oklahoma football player vid). And if he wins the fight there is the dealing with the police or whatever afterwards. That’s a pain in the ass. Besides, ain’t nobody got time for that. It’s clearly in his best interest to just walk away. And it doesn’t take that many brain cells to arrive at that conclusion.

Yes, and of course if all of my brain cells were not inactivated by rage I would have walked away the first time.

I wasn’t bluffing. I was willing to throwdown. I probably would have gotten my ass kicked.

My point was if you could bluff it with equal conviction (or close), that would actually work pretty well in most spots.

I know. GTO is almost always flight. You don’t want to fight someone willing to fight. But it also helps that I was legitimately temporarily insane and he could surely tell.

This has been my theory why I am undefeated in confrontations that can potentially get violent. I think people can see the insanity in my eyes.

Until you guys run into some very calm person who has been taking MMA for 5 years. Or a legit psycho with a weapon.

These guys generally won’t activate until you start throwing down. Or you give them a really fucking good reason. And acting crazy and yelling, probably isn’t enough.

However, this is problem.

I’ve dealt with a-holes and can’t imagine getting in a fight unless I’m just flat out jumped or with Stimabuser.

ETA: You do have a point though because I’ll fight Stimabuser, but I’m not tangling with jmakin or MichaelDavis.

ETA: Or you. I remember that story about dragging people around by their ears.

You would absolutely destroy me. At least my self-image. And I don’t think fat helps one fight-- well, it probably does a little.

Also I am not a fighter, really. Incident was an outlier, though I fear it could happen again someday and hope not.

My specialty is fighting the overweight. My older brother was like 320lbs.

Actually I started exercising and I’m not sure I can beat anyone. We’ll see. I’m having some old problems that might get worse rather than better - numbness in my feet and a sore hip.

Can confirm, this is me except closer to 3 years. As I stated earlier I’m always super calm in these situations because of extreme confidence and experience. This usually scares people. I put myself in intense situations because I’m confident I can control them and de-escalate or get my friends out of tricky situations.

I’ve always easily been able to de-escalate and would only actually fight if the other person attacked me or did something super bad like sexually assaulted a friend etc.

lol, yea a lot of my friends are afraid of me for some reason. But you could probably physically kick my ass. So could a lot of people.

I’ll be gentle :)

Fighting fat dudes is easy. Stay out of their reach and kick their knees.

Glad you’re doing it.

I got as big as ever in the pandemic. I’ve lost 21 pounds this year, only 14 more to go until I am not BMI overweight at least, but really 24 more.

I mean depends on how fat but sounds like you have no experience fighting. Weight is usually a real big advantage. If we’re talking obese than is gonna be out of breath in 15 seconds maybe, but just average fat you’re in big trouble unless you have good footwork/striking which you won’t unless you have trained.

Microbet mentioned a 320-pound brother. So, that fat or more.

I guess I’m talking about the guys with a more stationary style, where they wait for you to get within arm’s reach, then they either grab you or pound you.

Anyways:
