**Official** Physicists are freaks and very weird dudes LC Thread

The only story I have is a bunch of us getting completely fucked up at Eileen’s (bar) after work and him passing out, pants down, in a stall with a crack pipe in his hand.

My buddy apparently used to work with Bean Dad in Seattle, whom he calls “frat boy intellectual hipster douche”.

https://www.seattletimes.com/entertainment/music/seattles-john-roderick-aka-bean-dad-apologizes-after-social-media-backlash/

Roderick described his use of various slurs and other insensitive language as ironic and sarcastic, “flipping them to mock racism, sexism, homophobia, and bigotry” as a form of allyship. While some of the resurfaced tweets appeared to lampoon such hate speech, others lacked context or were more difficult to view as displays of allyship.

“It was a lazy and damaging ideology, that I continued to believe long past the point I should’ve known better that because I was a hipster intellectual from a diverse community it was ok for me to joke and deploy slurs in that context,” he wrote. “It was not. I realized, sometime in the early part of the decade, helped by real-life friends and Twitter friends too, that my status as a straight white male didn’t permit me to ‘repurpose’ those slurs as people from disenfranchised communities might do.”

This is pretty much word for word what I expected him to say. Totally edgy! Not racist. I’m mocking racists!

Weird way of saying “this weekend.”

Well most of those tweets are from 2013-ish, I think is what he’s trying to say.

Few of us in our early 30’s and at least a couple in their 20’s

That looks like some staggeringly bad tactics. I’m no battlefield expert or anything, but I’m pretty sure you’re not supposed to stand upright in the open desert and just sort of fire wildly in the general direction of your own guys.

The friendly fire risks there lol. That’s a great example of why I even hate hunting with people I don’t know.

That drove me nuts. Have none of these people ever played Call of Duty?

It’s not important enough for the covid thread so i’ll ask here -

My son’s preschool just emailed us that one of the teachers tested positive and they are shutting down for 14 days.

The school costs $1500 a month. Is it assumed that we are suppose to pay for a two weeks period where the school is shut down? I feel like we should get a refund but no one mentioned it so maybe i’m off.

I have seen it handled both ways.

This dude is a stone cold badass. Everyone else is diving for cover and he just stands there like a statue. Also smart not to make any sudden movements since your own guys are firing a few feet on either side of you.

Yeah those guys on the little hill were firing right over their own guys’ heads. Terrible.

Not to mention standing right in front of his own guys, who to be frank, don’t seem very disciplined in regards to which direction they are firing their weapons.

I seriously wonder if that was part of his equation. Well if I don’t move at least my own guys probably won’t shoot me.

We have entered into the new age where nothing is real and everything is a hoax or a conspiracy. Not sure what can be done about it to be honest.

I have infinitely more faith the kids will eventually acknowledge and correct their mistake than the Boomers.

Yea for sure. However, I fear that we are living a terrible black mirror episode and we haven’t yet seen the full ramifications of a generation of kids growing up immersed in social media.
