Alex Ross is so great if you like classic superhero comic art and pop culture Americna and other nerdy shit. Dude is absolutely the Norman Rockwell of our time. Everytime he posts it’s a new wallpaper for me.
^^ Chris Reeves, Adam West, Lynda Carter, and… that guy who played Shazam? Just some A+ eldrich pop culture lore here.

This post reminded me that Silver Age TV is fun if you’re into that era

The visual design in this is exquisite.
A speeding train is often referred to as a bullet. The track, scaffolding, and train section entering/exiting the tunnel form the silhouette of a gun. Robin’s cape creates the implied illusion of a muzzle flash, and the villain taking a swing at Robin doubles as a terrified reaction to the bullet, while the foreground sections of train double as already-fired bullets. The opposing forces of the train entering the tunnel against the implied gunshot away from the tunnel pulls our attention to the center of the image and the most distinctly colored objects: Batman and Robin.
Guns, of course, have a special symbolism in Batman lore. A gun took his parents from him and inspired his own rule forbidding himself from using guns.
