I was going to write a post earlier pondering Thibs systemic deficiencies offensively and defensively versus the game in 2020, but doubted myself and aborted.
Thinking about it more I think it is valid and his desire to run his players into the ground runs counter to what everyone else does. I don’t think he really exposed a new face in Minnesota but I could he mistaken.
I don’t think it is the worst choice ever but if I was a knicks fan I wouldn’t find a lot to be excited about. He may up the level of competitiveness night in and night out but perhaps only as long as he doesn’t alienate his roster.
On a different note, we are having these scrimmages and the season is about to resume and being a fan of the greatest offense in NBA history I still can’t really muster up much enthusiasm.
I guess the 8 game schedule helps to ease me back in. If the playoffs just started I would find ig hard to get started. Going against my own predictions, I hope I don’t finally start to get into it only to have it canceled.
I feel you. Other than Champions league and world cup, NBA playoffs are my favorite sports event of the year. But I just have so little interest thus far in the restart. Maybe it’s just a defensive mechanism because I don’t want to get my hopes up.
Although, these past 4 months of no live sports has really been an interesting experience. A lot of my free time and socializing and hanging with the boys time had been centered around sporting events in person or out at the bar/brewery/backyard bbq. (Covid shut down my annual trip to indian wells for the tennis tourney, and I had to nix a summer euro trip planned to see F1 and Euro2020)
It makes me feel as if I was just a privileged citizen of the empire, engorging on bread and circuses. Like if an addict got clean, but by happenstance not by choice. And now the dopamine hits that derive from the circuses are returning, and all I have is a feeling of indifference.
Of those games, 15 will be on TNT, 13 on ESPN, 14 on NBATV, and 3 on ABC plus, I believe, six more games to be televised on the last two days to be determined.
I think that exponentially raised the chances of the thing working out, but there are still some players who were positive that had to quarantine outside of the bubble as far as I remember. Things could change when those players enter the bubble (Russell Westbrook was the highest profile player) but hopefully they won’t.
