National Basketball Association - 2022/23 Season (Part 1)

I said here a week ago or whatever I thought Brooklyn would be slight favorites but they were just never beating Boston, then Milwaukee then Miami. Just no chance.

I was already fuck teams that sell out their future for a short window to win a ship before Rams beats Bengals in the Super Bowl. Not happy this led me to root for the Celtics led by a Duke player, but glad to see the Nets failing.

The Celtics were just the more talented team.

Losing a first round pick in the NFL very different than the NBA as long as you draft well later.

I mean it is far far different from NBA

But they did just leave themselves with 3 picks in the first 4 rounds in the next two years…

But I would snap take that trade, but I was rooting it wouldn’t come true

I think I disagree?

The Celtics were under. 500 their last 120 games. That was their raw talent. The last half a season they’ve just been better coached and their star players are playing way more intelligently. Felt like every offensive possession tonight was “drive, kick out, open 3”

Rinse and repeat

If Ben actually ever plays lol he could solve two of their biggest problems. Someone to run the offense and good defense.

This was a mixture of the Celtics being really good and the nets being mediocre.

Most of their hype was based off people thinking kd was unstoppable because the bucks played bad defense. Celtics reminded everyone of okc Durant who was known as Mr unreliable.

Still how bad they shut him down was super impressive.

It’s so weird how Luka can do so well despite looking like he’s moving in slow motion. I’m surprised big fast defenders can’t just lock him up.

Can’t ever remember a player like him. As slow as him but still really good

Lmao

Sage against the machine is amazing

Simmons can’t run a half court offense. He can defend and play in transition, that’s it.

You add a healthy Simmons/Harris and they’re not bad, but man I don’t like their personalities at all.

Yeah I agree. It’s actually all the players I dislike most on one team so them getting swept is beautiful.

Hope it happens again next year.

Simmons is maybe the worst situation in a long time. Dude took an entire year off because his feelings got hurt because he played bad. He couldn’t even stay in shape or practice during that year.

Honestly it feels like a lock out is guaranteed. I’m going to be furious if we see maybe Stephs last year of being super elite lost because a handful of superstars abused the hell out of the system

At the end of the season, I’ll post my updated list of top 25 players in NBA history.

Steph ranks higher than KD.

Not saying he’s right, but the argument for this would be that the supposed amazing Celtics defense ranks 8th in playoff DRtg and allowed the Nets to be the 2nd most efficient offensive team in the first round, behind only the Warriors.

Next round they likely play the Bucks who have had suffocating playoff defense over the past 4 seasons, ranking as the best defensive team in the playoffs 3 out of 4 years, with the bubble being the exception.

I have no idea how that’s an argument for that. Seems kind of unfair to say the Celtics are 8th in DRTG and not take into account strength of opponent. I mean, maybe they would also struggle against the offensive juggernaut that are the Chicago Bulls but I tend to doubt it

The Celtics have curbstomped everyone in their path for three months. Then they won four straight games against a team that the books had as favorites to come out of the East (BEFORE the play in games!) by single digits.

Maybe, just maybe, the Nets were really good, but the Celtics were a bit better. I know that doesn’t fit into the “everybody sucks” narrative but it’s way closer to reality.

Larry

lmao so apparently nba refs get paid, wait for this, per game in the playoffs.

So thats why it happens. NBA wants more games, sets a massive incentive for refs to stretch series as long as possible. No need for secret dealings or anything lol.

How Much Do NBA Refs Make? You May Be Surprised.

Would you prefer to give refs an incentive to end series faster and favor whichever team is ahead?
