National Basketball Association - 2022/23 Season (Part 1)

What’s with the 8-0 Suns?
Their last 5 wins were Luka/Porzingis less Mavs, Embiid/Simmons/Tobias less Sixers, SGA/Gallinari/Adams/Noel less Thunder, Butler/Dragic/Nunn less Heat and Warren less Pacers.

I mean it’s impressive that they beat the clippers and mavs but the rest was just a super easy schedule

A certain banned poster is a Suns fan

I can understand PHX being pissed off though. Go to the bubble, win every game in a playoff hunt, see you next year.

Gentry fired in New Orleans. I guess trading your whole team is not a guarantee of coach safety.

Dame not even the best player on his team

MELO

STAY ME7O

2020 Melo is the best Melo. If dude is born ten years later he becomes a much better player.

Also, let us recall that the eventual champion Pistons could have drafted Carmelo over Darko. It’s entirely possible that in this alternate universe we are not suffering through a Trump presidency.

Not sure what kind of minutes Melo would have been looking at on that team, didn’t Larry Brown hate rookies?

As long as they pass the eye test he will play them.

You know what really grinds my gears? I assume most of you have seen the movie Fletch with Chevy Chase. I was looking for a good replica of the Lakers jersey movie prop he wore in the film.

There are a number of these out there, an example shown below, and they all suck. Here’s why:

His character’s name in the movie is Irwin “Fletch” Fletcher, so the name on the jersey should be FLETCHER, not FLETCH. The filmmakers knew this and if you look closely you can see it:

Some more deep research. In 1985, MacGregor Sand-Knit obtained the first exclusive NBA license to produce uniforms for all teams, but prior to then the teams contracted to different manufacturers. The Lakers jerseys were made by Tiernan of Glendale which can be verified by searching listings of game-worn items from that era, the small tag located at the front center bottom of the jerseys.

Detailed history of NBA jersey licensing and how this all shook out in this blog:
