damn limewire
Was that actually a sequel? I wasnât aware they were related. Iâve seen that as well and yeah, what a fun time. Russ Meyer definitely had a type, which is also my type lol. Check out some of his other films from the 60s and 70s. Theyâre wild.
Itâs explicitly not a sequel.
Apparently Roger Ebert wrote a couple of softcore porn comedies in the 70s, they look amazing. I need to get my hands on some ASAP.
took my son to see super mario bros yesterday. his first movie ever.
i know itâs a kids movie and all but it was pretty underwhelming. not really funny, no story. the only voice actor who was noticable was jack black as bowser. I wouldnât have had a clue it was chris pratt doing mario if i didnât see the end credit.
it wasnât terrible or anything and it seems to be doing very well in the box office, but iâve seen way better kids movies.
Just last year, Puss In Boots 2 is an incredible kids movie. Funny, poignant, touching, good message, stunning animation. I dont gush over kids movies often, but its as close to a must see kids movie as is available.
Youâve never seen a Russ Meyer film? lol
Thatâs good, right? The thing I hate about âknownâ actors getting all the voice roles now is that itâs usually just their voice I hear and it takes me out of the fantasy a bit.
In the first trailer, I actually didnât realize it was Jack Black playing Bowser until my son pointed it out.
This is why the MCU is woat. Itâs like every great chef in America was offered insane money to work for McDonaldâs.
This might be my 2023 movie of the year.
Greg Sistero and Mike Flanagan as Peter. The article doesnt mention who will play Denny. I have to know
I mean i wouldnt have known it was chris pratt cause he was very unmemorable. If theres a talent to doing voice acting, and i assume there is, he didnt show any.
IMDB says Denny is played by someone named Cameron Kasky, who I had not heard of, and who only has a few other credits.
Pretty much word for word my review. Apart from Jack Black, I donât think they couldâve done a much worse job choosing the voice actors.
The movie will do great b/c of the nostalgia and I guess they deserve a bit of credit for that, but everything else was pretty bad.
Animation was great, but the writing was lazy. It leans so heavily on references to the video games that some of the things make no sense if you try to interpret the movie on a standalone basis, like the Koopa saying âYou canât escape me. Iâm a blue shell!â
The Filmcast helped me understand why a movie like this can be so obviously joyful and yet so obviously empty.
This was made by Illumination Studios.
Their three biggest franchises are Despicable Me, The Secret Life of Pets, and Sing.
What would you rather watch: a Ghost Dog movie made by the director of John Wick, or a John Wick movie directed by Jim Jarmusch?
I found that one a lot funnier and original than mario
Havenât seen Despicable me/minions, but when you give those people a franchise you have to understand what youâre getting. Kids will absolutely love it, but there wonât be much for depth or plot.
I had to watch sing with my nephew and that was awful.
Itâs also not like the Mario games have a Last of Us level plot either.
Despicable/Minions are good fun and rewatchable which is good if you have a 6 year old that loves it.
Itâs amazing to think about it: we have roughly three generations who grew up playing Mario games in one form or another. This weird little videogame guy has inexplicably created a supermassive black hole of nostalgia and itâs incredible no one ever cashed in on that yet. Nintendo is sitting on untapped reservoirs of IP --a Zelda game seems inevitable. A whole Smash Bros cinematic gamefied universe thingy could be in the works.
I have low expectations but Iâm still incredibly hyped to watch this. I cut my gamer teeth playing the Mario Bros cabinet in a pizza joint in San Francisco. Not Super Mario Bros, the OG regular Mario Bros. I have no idea what the fuck a blue shell is. Itâs maybe a Mario Kart thing? Iâve played so much Mario and yet Iâm not remotely prepared for all the lore.
Yeah i played tons of mario and had no idea. It is a mario kart thing
