Movies (and occasionally face slaps) (Part 1)

Arrival might be the best hard science fiction film ever made. Just sayin’

It’s also secretly one of the best grief films ever.

Never gets old.

I’m watching Elvis today. About 10 minutes in and it’s already pretty batshit.

Akira

Metropolis

The Hidden Fortress

How is hidden fortress sci-fi?

was skimming and didn’t see that

Going with them in that order :+1:

Been a loooooooong time since I saw Akira. I still dream of a live-action version with Keanu.

Lol that sounds terrible

I will not stand for this blasphemy.

Since accepting Keanu as the pinnacle of acting prowess, my mood his risen, my health has improved, and my crops are prospering.

Gotta get ready. A year ago in this thread we were all posting about The Slap in real time.

Just catching up with what’s happened.

Totally expected, but still happy for Ke Huy Quan. Was Jamie Lee an upset?

Saw all the live action short films a few weeks ago. Just happy that stupid “Le Pupille” one didn’t win.

Anything else important happen so far?

very minor upset

Angela Bassett (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever) +130
Jamie Lee Curtis (Everything Everywhere All at Once) +165
Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin) +175
Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All at Once) +3400
Hong Chau (The Whale) +3400

WTF is this shit?

I’ve enjoyed many movies on planes this way. Apparently I’d rather watch the movie the person sitting next to me or in front of me is enjoying, than my own. I like trying to guess what’s going on and making up my own dialogue.

Oh yeah Keanu is the goat no doubt, my argument is that Hollywood would ruin what is already a perfect movie. Not even Neo himself could pull it off.
