Movies (and occasionally face slaps) (Part 1)

Saw Us last night and despite the interesting script I wasn’t sure it worked either as a horror or as a very black comedy.

Ready or Not twice it seems

Haha whoops.

Well to be fair, it’s a fantastic movie. Plus Samara Weaving and Andie McDowell. Been in love with Andie since Groundhog Day.

Watched Drive last night and we really disappointed. Most of the “dialogue” was pauses and stupid smirks. The 3rd act only happens because the hero makes stupid decisions at every opportunity, including leaving a bag money with the last guy who knew him so he go bleed out on the highway somewhere. Little action or driving in a driving based action flic.

Yeah, it’s 10 years old, I’m behind on my movies…

Wait until you watch the director’s follow-up Only God Forgives. Everything you loved/hated about Drive taken to the extreme.

Hell of a first ten minutes, though. Agree what came after didn’t live up to the promise at all.

GOAT movie

Yeah, that opening heist was interesting, except they never really explained what triggered so much attention by the cops, seemed like the response didn’t match what we saw.

Am I the only one who think the live action of Mulan looks at least interesting and not a boring shot for shot remake?

It looks amazing and truly worthy of a live-action remake.

It can’t be shot for shot, the original was like 70 minutes.

I heard from my gf that they’re taking it back closer to the original myth/legend that inspired the animated movie.

I really like Jungle Book because it wasn’t shot for shot.

Come on Lion King, even the Broadway musical introduced new songs (granted from Lion King 2).

So was beauty and the beast (ok, 85) and they still managed a shot for shot remake that was 130 minutes.

Was it 45 minutes of emma watson bestiality porn?

Ya know, I never actually saw it. Would be a clever way to release that without her normal admirers getting to see it though.

But from whats Ive heard I have no earthly idea how they got an extra 45 minutes since everyone complains its a shot for shot remake

Shot for shot feels like a bit of a misnomer. I guess I mean not adding anything really interesting. I watched the Aladdin remake and it added some songs but didn’t fundamentally change anything and as a consequence wasn’t really interesting. The Mulan movie looks like they went for a more, I don’t know how to say this, “Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon” style that’s a lot different than the original

I feel like we are on the same page.

Maybe Lion King Broadway can get away with no changing anything except songs, just because it is so good live. (I’ve legit got seeing Lion King West End London as the best thing I’ve ever seen)

But that still not being enough for remake/reboot. But that is hard for something as beloved as Lion King.
