Movies (and occasionally face slaps) (Part 1)

I think this is his best one! Aka the only one of his movies I both finished and enjoyed.

What is your second favorite of his?

What do they make you feel? Can be more than one thing.

I like the life aquatic and enjoy the parts where its weird and kind of off the rails.

Moonrise was the first I ever saw so that will probably always be my favorite.

They make me feel all the emotions which is why they’re so great.

I’m not sure why I like them but Tenenbaums, Life Aquatic, Moonrise kingdom, Grand Budapest are all good.

You should give Rushmore a try. Rewatched it recently. Holds up well.

I think I tried it long ago and just couldn’t, but I was quite young then. I will give it another shot :+1:

LOL someone thought these two were so good as Clark Kent’s parents that they couldn’t resist.

I want to imagine this as “What if Superman never crashed on Earth?”

The Kents would have grown up into something like this couple.

i turned off my youtube tv but got till the end of the month so knocking some movies out.

watched John Wick finally, i had seen John wick 3 a few months ago which obviously isnt preferred order, i enjoyed 3 but man 1 was pretty good. I have 2 saved as well.

watched Robin Hood men in tights this morning which ive seen 10+ times but fuck i love that movie.

Watching Snatch now which I’ve seen before but also super good.
Also halfway through the 2nd of planet of the apes movies remakes, which is meh but imma finish it.

Also i got to thinking about guy ritchie and looked up his films, anyone have opinions on Rocknrolla, revolver, or the gentlemen which apparently just came out? I’m a sucker for Statham so I’m going to see if i can watch revolver somewhere.

Also I’m stoked for the new denzel movie in 10 days on HBO. is that on the watch party list?

John Wick 2 is excellent. Glgl.

Hmm I’d say still finish the Apes movies. Not sure if you’ll like War if you don’t enjoy Dawn, but it has Woody Harrelson and is just so damn good that you have to see it once.

The Gentlemen is trash, but it’s hot trash.

Def need to watch the Denzel movie. I also want to see Locked Down with Anne Hathaway and Chiwetel Ejiofor. A romance story in the COVID era that turns into a heist movie.

The Planet of the Apes movies with Serkis are astonishingly good. Like they should suck but they don’t.

RocknRolla is great, so is The Gentleman. Highly recommend both. If you like Snatch and Lock Stock, then you’ll like them too.

I’m disappointed that the RocknRolla trilogy was never completed.

What do you mean by this? I really like the turn of phrase regardless.

Like if I apply any angle of critical analysis, it’s garbage. But if you take it on its own terms, you can have a great time.

Every movie Guy Ritchie made after Lock Stock was an inferior attempt at a remake.

God, I watched the straight to netflix George Clooney movie “Midnight Sky” tonight. Spare yourself, it’s horrible. Like really really bad. And this is a guy who loves clooney in just about everything he does.

I think people tired of the pretentious mockney shtick of a posh guy where everyone’s a geezer.

How about Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels? That was my favorite movie during high school, I watched it at least 10 times

Clooney is a very good actor but mediocre to bad director.
