Lol nailed it, ty
Prime/Showtime currently airing The Loudest Voice (2019) miniseries on Roger and the creation of Fox News. Just on episode one but very good so far. This one has Russel Crowe as Roger (and Seth Macfarland as Brian Lewis!!! Lolllllllllll)
Was thinking about which directors had changed the landscape of film making most with regards to films made in the past 30 years.
Tarantino and Lynch the first 2 off the top of my head.
Just watched it. Mark Rylance is always good.
Uh, holy shit, I just found out that a scene in Borat 2 was filmed in my synagogue. Sacha Baron Cohen was sitting in the same sanctuary where my daughter was Bat Mitzvahed.
Very nice!
I wouldnāt really recommend anyone watch that for this next week or so
I wasnāt even interested until you said this
Rewatching I am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House and itās better the second time around for some reason.
OK, so heads up you guys, this guy Oz Perkins is a goddamned genius. Him and Panos Cosmatos are the two most exciting indie directors to be following right now. Like, these guys are on some Kubrick-like genius energy levels.
The Hustle (2019)
2/10
Thought it would be funny with Rebel Wilson and Ann Hathaway. I couldnāt make it through the first 30 minutes. Ann Hathaway is trying and failing a British accent, and the opening scene to establish Wilson as a con artist was so dumb I rolled my eyes 4 or 5 times in the first 6 minutes. Wilson canāt hold a co starring role either, she just has the one bit character she plays no matter what. Hathaway does look amazing in fashionable clothing though.
Edit: Lol I thought I shouldnāt give up so I started watching again. Like 30 seconds after I started watching thereās a honest to god cat screech sound when something is thrown over a ledge. Jesus. Turned it off.
Watched Borat 2. Really good. Iām sure it was difficult to pull it off since Borat is now a well-known character, but they did it. As expected, some of the scenes were just incredibly cringe-inducing.
Also, Rudy was obviously just tucking in his shirt. Then again, he shouldnāt be going to the bedroom to have drinks.
I asked my rabbi via Facebook how it was possible to keep the scene at our synagogue a secret for so long. He said he didnāt know about it until he watched the movie! He retired in July, but that scene was obviously shot before the pandemic, so he would have still been there at that point.
Iāve been in lots of movies, but itās weird to think Borat was sitting where my kids have been/will be Bat/Bar Mitzvahed. Itās walking distance from my house (no, not Orthodox, just a coincidence).
Got this as a gift today. Thought is was so cool. Each strip is a scene from the film. They do every film you can think of. This is my favorite movie.
These are kind of cool, the Blade Runner 2049 one is sweet.
Watched #Alive on Netflix the other day.
Itās a solid Korean zombie flick. Itās not elite tier or anything, but they do a good job putting their own spin on the genre. 20-ish-year-old gamer/streamer wakes up one morning, parents have gone out, and all of a sudden people are getting infected with some virus and shit goes to hell. Itās about him trying to survive in his little apartment by himself with limited-to-no means of communication.
Not going to top any lists, but Iād say itās firmly above average. Enjoyed it.
I watched it too a bit back and would agree with your assessment.
Another Korean zombie movie on Netflix is Train to Busan. It has a lot of the usual zombie movie tropes but itās well done and entertaining.
Also in the zombie genre is Girl With All the Gifts. This one is more on the creepy/suspenseful side. It deals with some deeper issues and moral/ethical questions that left me thinking about it a fair amount afterward.
Anyway, just my quick two cents. Iād say any of these are worth the time if youāre in the mood.
