Good question, and big No. It shows maturity and self-awareness.
I hate using those things because it always fucks me up when I get the urge to gamble.
It does not show weakness in an absolute sense, only in a relative sense.
It shows less self-control than if you could successfully just not gamble.
It shows more self-control than most other options than I can think of.
Why are you phrasing this like some gotcha? Just because I think that someone who chooses not to gamble in an irresponsible manner has more self-control than someone who uses external tools to not gamble in an irresponsible manner does not mean I think that those tools are bad, or that the people who use them are bad, or that I think that perfect self-control without tools in all things is a worthwhile or achievable goal.
Hang on there. No one said anything about any of those strategies being the “best” or better or worse or anything like that (at least I didn’t). All I said is that one demonstrates more self-control than the other.
Is that better or worse? Doesn’t matter. It’s completely irrelevant to my point.
No one you seem to be arguing against has claimed otherwise.
I guess it depends on how you define addiction. But probably not.
Not really that different, imo.
What about people chewing on candy and smacking their lips while they tell you that you are the weak one for not having candy in the house?
