In 3rd place, scoring 13 (9,7) Rivaldo - Future Love Paradise by Seal
I am man enough to admit that I have forgotten the sheer brilliance that is the former Mr. Heidi Klum. Seal is fucking amazing, and I was engaged with this song from moment 1. It may seem a bit off for me to put this at number 3 since audience response is a simple call and response na na na, but I don’t give a damn. This is fantastic and deserves this placing.
In 2nd place, scoring 14 (8,9) Twist - Holes by Passenger
Thank you so much for this submission, Twist. I had never heard this before and its incredible. The crowd picking up the song at what seems to be a very emotional point for the lead hit me hard, especially after reading the lyrics along with the song. This is crazy beautiful and I loved it, well done.
I just don’t follow the thinking. I wouldn’t allow myself that title, because tho I can be a pretentious bitch, i try to avoid the obviously gratuitous opportunities.
you just bestow artist upon some unsuspecting chap lmao
I really though that somebody might take this down at some point during the submission, since this is the second submission I received, but this is the top of the mountain for sure.
In 1st place, scoring 15 - Cassette - Killing in the Name by Rage Against the Machine
Zach is the crowd king. I’ve seen Rage live, and its a transcendent experience. I lost pounds of body weight in sweat that night and I loved every second of it. They’re fucking chanting with the bass line and Tom’s riff. Its chills worthy. Finsbury Park brings it hard and this is a very worth number 1.
A Walrus winner that I have less than no issue with. First RAtM album is transcendent stuff.
Personally frustrated as I know there’s a live version of Sit Down out there where the crowd sings a whole verse as well and the band picks up again afterwards. Someone played it on the school bus pretty much every day circa 1990, but I couldn’t find it.
I didnt knew any of these songs. I listened to some of them and wasnt impressed. Just tortured myself with the winning song. You barely hear what the crowd is singing. In this category I would have more imaged something like Summer of 69 from Bryan Adams. Something where the crowd actually knows the text. When the nananan from Seal is enough that you could have used Queen from LiveAid with his “ejo ejo”.
I think I just have to accept that my taste in music is different.
Yeah sing-along songs only work if you already know the song. That Rage crowd definitely knows the text. You don’t, so it doesn’t work. Try the studio version.
