Alright, alright… I take it back. Adam Lambert is a poo-poo head.
Arrrg.
Readjusting again
Ok, I had to come up with something. Lets see if my reasoning makes sense.
in 11th place, scoring 5 - (3,6) Pyatnitski - Sit Down by James
This is fire, it really is. He closes the show with this, and closes with the audience singing, I just wish there was more of James after the audience does there part. That being said, this is mostly a toe tapper and scores a little low on the move score, but the song itself is really really good. I had never heard it before.
Also, fuck whistles and Vuvuzelas forever
This next one is gonna really hurt, because the only thing that is really bringing it down in my overall enjoyment is not understanding it at all.
In 10th place, scoring 6 (5,7 -2 for understandability ) Spinetta - De Musica Ligera by Soda Stereo
The crowd is hype, they sing along, the song gets me moving. I just don’t know what the hell is being said so I had to dock the overall score a bit.
In 9th place, scoring 7 (8,2) Smrk4 - Creeping Death by Metallica
So when I first brought this up, I wasn’t paying attention to where the song was recorded, and I know Metallica is huge in Germany, so I was going to make a joke about why the crowd was chanting The for like 2 minutes
But, then it turned out that this was actually filmed in Moscow, and the joke does not work the same way for Russian, so…
What i’m trying to say is, a single word doesn’t hit high on the audience participation score for me, sorry.
So it turns out songs 10-7 all ended up with the same score, and its just coming down to ordering. In the end its going to be based primarily on total audience score since that was the category.
Very hard to think of good songs that have a lot of audience participation. DUCY
Of course, the idea of “We paid you a bunch of money to come and sing over you during one of our favorite songs we paid to hear you sing” is oxymoronic in a way, and yet, it can be done well.
Alright
In 8th place, scoring 8 (6,4) King of NY - I’m gonna Be (5000 Miles) by Imagine Dragons
This is great, really and truly. The crowd is hype, and it gets me moving just fine, my only problem (and its not really a problem, but I have to score this some way) is the simplicity of the da das.
(don’t hate me)
In 7th place, scoring 9 (2,8) Suzzer99 - Boulevard of Broken Dreams by Green Day
Green Day has some amazing live performances. This is one of them. What this is not is one of Green Day’s more upbeat songs. But the crowd is incredible, and Billy Joe knows exactly how to use them in the way I was looking for in this category.
Speaking of a guy who knows how to use the crowd in incredible ways
In 6th place, scoring 10 (5,7) - JohnnyTruant - Breakdown by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
This is awesome. Easy to groove to, crowd is so into it, Tom uses them to the best outcome he can. Love it.
This next song bounced around a lot. I had it as low as 12th at one point, and as high as second, so I think 5th is a pretty good landing spot for it.
In 5th place, scoring 11 (7,6) LouisCypher - Mr. Brightside by The Killers
The crowd is so fucking loud here that regardless of the fact that Mr. Killer almost never turns the mic over to them during the song, they are still a huge part of the action. I found this one really hard to rank specifically for this reason. This is almost a polar opposite of the Prince song in that way. Prince turned the mic over a number of times, but got absolutely zero crowd noise.
Oh baby, this song’s got what I need
In 4th place, scoring 12 (8,7) Mimosa - Just a Friend by Biz Markie
Somebody tickled my nostalgia bone hard here. Full head bob from moment 1, and I absolutely love the way Biz plays with the crowd in this.
COME ONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN
And we reach the top of the mountain, with three INCREDIBLY different songs.
This is probably my most diverse podium of the competition, so I need a few minutes to review these to make sure that I have them ordered correctly.
This was much cooler than I expected it to be, which sounds kind of like a backhanded compliment now that I think about it, but it’s not. I liked this one.
I thought the same thing actually. My overall feelings on Imagine Dragons are quite split recently. They have some really good music, and some really not good music, so I didn’t know what I was expecting to happen here, but I really really liked it.
Ok, I think I got it, lets do this.
More hair metal imo
