Can u explain what they are doing wrong? I’m fixin to buy some and I don’t want to miss apply them. I’m surprised by this because I figured anyone diligent enough to seek out n95s would know how to use them.
I think they’re uncomfortable if you wear them properly for extended periods. But you can certainly figure out how to fit them, even though half the people I see using them are doing it wrong. Mostly they have obvious gaps between the mask and their face. Perhaps due to using the wrong size, I’m not really sure.
How many times would you comfortably reuse one of those KN95 masks before disposing? I’ve been using either surgical masks or a cloth mask, but am considering getting some KN95s.
Under $2/mask even after the ridiculous $17 shipping.
I think the Raxwell fits slightly better than the Powecom. If I exhale heavily through the Powecom, the air breaks the seal on the back of my cheek, sending some unfiltered air behind me.
Got the Powecom masks in the mail today, pretty good, better than I thought with the fit around the nose, but like @eeAWW said, breathe heavily and the seal around the cheek breaks. Going to continue doubling with surgicals until I hear otherwise.
Hah at first I didn’t trust them because with that name, it sounded like a website that popped up overnight to profit from the pandemic. But apparently they’ve been around for a long time and they have a big warehouse/plant in Illinois.
My raxwell masks from saf-t-gard came on Monday. Unlike the ebay raxwells, the ink markings on these actually match the ones on the raxwell site (I didn’t look closely enough before). The ear bands are also noticeably tighter, so the ebay ones might be counterfeit (which wouldn’t necessarily be the seller’s fault). I said the ebay ones had a great fit; the saftgard’s fit is even better (at the expense of some ear comfort) because the mask is pulled more tightly to one’s face. This is my go-to mask from now on.
Pulled the trigger, feels scammy but I’ll report back when/if they arrive. I don’t mind the price if they are legit, I had a few N95s at the start and prefer them to the KN95s that I’ve gotten so far, mainly in the tightness of the seal above the nose.
A neighbor said she bought some of these, which claim to kill the virus by zapping it with cations until the enclosure decays, bursts, and the now-harmless virus guts spill out. Available in the U.S. under EUA, and submitted for FDA approval. I couldn’t find any real info about the science beyond the Mrs. Frizzle description.

Yeah, that’s what I found. “Patent a paradigm shift”, “optimized chemistries”, “probable”. I guess probable is OK, but the other stuff sounds like snake oil. If it’s patented, why not explain exactly what the compounds are, how they bind, why they don’t cause cancer, etc.
