Masks / Face Coverings

New entry.

I did some research yesterday and there are some good KN95’s available. Not NIOSH N95 but maybe the next best thing that isn’t a homebrew.

See the FDA’s Appendix A and the CDC’s NPPTL results.

For instance “Powecom” is listed in Appendix A, scores >99% in the NPPTL table, and is sold on eBay for $30/10. Same goes for Raxwell masks which are $10/2. Both pricey for disposable masks, but I’m pretty sure it’s fine to re-wear them a bunch of times, esp if you’re just going out for groceries a couple times a month. It’s probably a good idea to store them indoors in plastic if you’re reusing them, to keep them out of the heat and moisture.

Thanks, that’s good info.

It’s time to phase out masks with breathing valves like my RZ Mask. The valves that make breathing out easier defeat much of the purpose of wearing a mask in the first place.

I put a surgical mask over my RZ mask valves.

Considering half the country won’t wear a mask at all, I feel like I need the filtration and convenience that the RZ offers in order to protect myself. I don’t feel comfortable that I can fit and properly wear N95s for the extended periods of time that I sometimes wear my RZ masks.

Probably 75% of the people I see wearing an N95 are wearing it wrong.

Had a follow up w my doctor from last week where they had just started wearing face shields with the mask. They all had goggles on now instead of shields.

By putting the surgical mask over the valves you’ve solved the issue. But everyone else out there wearing masks with uncovered valves would be doing more to protect other people by wearing a cloth mask.

I wore a 3M N95 to my doctor’s office (located in a hospital) on March 15th. They laughed at me.

Hopefully they’re all dead now.

Another reason why I would hate to be a store worker right now. They have enough worries. Now they have to police the crazies.

In February and March I was secretly purelling all of my cutlery and side plates under the table when I went out to eat. No mask, and still happily ordering dine-in, but washing everything. In March I went to one Chinese supermarket where dozens of employees were masked up and I knew it was time to start hiding. I kind of want to send that store a bouquet of flowers or a gift card for the staff or something.

“Make your own Anti Mask!” said the seller of a pattern to create your own anti-mask. The description of the product states: “Stylish, breathable and don’t protect you from a darn thing! Masks required? No problem! Breath free while making a statement.”

How many FREEDOM FIGHTERS are angry at this yet don’t give a shit about cops gassing protesters?

Allegedly verifies a few sites selling official USA made N95s. Still inclined to believe it’s bullshit but putting it out there.

Cant I be a “Freedom for just me fighter?”

The other day I went ahead and ordered 2 Raxwell and 10 Powecom masks from high-rated sellers on ebay. The Raxwell arrived today and I must say it has a really good fit, better than how I remember the 3M N95. Looking at it next to the pic on Raxwell’s site, it appears to be authentic.
