It confuses me because I associate Cincinnati with Hungarian/German food. Have you ever been to this place?
Skyline and Gold Star are disgusting but in the same way that McDonald’s and Burger King are disgusting. I’m open to the idea that someone’s making good Cincinnati chili but don’t go there often enough to know who/where those places might be.
The thing about Cincy you have to remember is, for a long time, it was THE jewel of the “west”. So while yes, there are lots of German and central European immigrants, there are also lots of immigrants/transplants from other places, too. There was quite a large Greek population, as well as Italian and Irish.
I’m learning all kinds of new stuff today. For example, I’ve only had Graeter’s in Columbus and I often got that buckeye flavor, so I just associated it with Columbus.
Hot take: since they started selling out of state, and built a new factory, their quality has diminished. I think they increased their overrun. (amount of air that is incorporated)
