Major League Baseball (Part 1)

Jesus Christ. I finally get a Red Sox game that’s not blacked out, and they walk 5 Yankees in a single inning.

I plan on driving to oakland for the game vs the angels tomorrow. Only been to one baseball game before - where should i buy tickets for? Not going to splurge for behind home plate or anything. Is it more fun on the 2nd deck behind 1st/3rd or on the bleachers?

If you get drunk it doesn’t matter

My preference is behind home plate, behind my teams dugout, closest to the field anywhere, field level anywhere, behind home plate but upper decks, further outfield seats, bad upper decks seats.

Been going to games this year usually field level close to the home teams dugout but 35 rows up for about $85 or in the first two rows outfield for $60

First base line.

Cheap ticket in the upper deck. Then move down after the 1st inning to an empty section.

Staff doesn’t care?

I paid $100 for ticket+parking+fees which seems way too much so i’ll do that next time

Nah. Only time it’s an issue is if game is sold out or you try to go behind home plate.

In most places, if you buy a beer and act like you belong, nobody bothers you walking to empty seats. So I second the recommendation for this approach.

For a generally empty stadium like Oakland, I also sometimes use this as leverage with scalpers. A few weeks ago I was in Cincinnati and wanted to go to the game. Was going to buy the cheapest ticket ($14 or something) and walk around and sit wherever. Walking up to the box office shortly after, a scalper had tickets - I held my ground until he came further and further down and eventually bought a ticket 5 rows behind behind the dugout for $20. That said, I could’ve just walked to that seat anyway.

Different parks have different rules, the Giants for example are pretty strict about seating and make you show your ticket every time you come back to your seat if you’re in the lower box.

Does Oakland still have dollar dogs?

Eh, I prefer just to buy my ticket and not spend energy thinking about ways to get closer.

Nah, not a moron. There’s value in just buying a ticket and not worrying about if and how you’re going to sneak around, the embarrassment of sitting in a seat and then having the ticket-holder show up to it, etc.
