He had the third highest number of walks in history in 2001 and STILL hit 73 HR
In comparison, Ohtani has been walked 36 times this year.
I don’t know if Giants stadium changed, but it was the worst hitter park until the changes they put last year (and it’s still pretty bad). So Bonds got that going for him too.
Otoh he was a terrible pitcher
Fair point.Bonds’ slider was awful
I often think about whether there is such a thing as a truly unbreakable record.
I can imagine someone hitting 74 and 760, but I find it hard to wrap my head around anyone anywhere ever breaking Bonds’ IBB records
Gwynn has some strikeout records that seem pretty safe.
The IBB is pretty insane although I’m partial to his .600+ OBP in 2004. Like, what? That’s men’s softball league numbers
Baseball has a number of records that will never be broken just because of how much the game has changed. I mean, there’s no one active who’s within A THOUSAND STEALS of Rickey Henderson.
Yeah but you can picture someone coming along with Rickey’s speed and chance taking. It might not be in our lifetimes but I can see it happening.
No one is hitting 3 grand slams in one inning
reds had the bases loaded no outs in the 1st inning
reds had the bases loaded with 1 out in the 2nd inning
reds have zero runs after two innings
Brewers scored 2 runs with only an infield hit played by the pitcher. Two different styles of ball clubs: making the least out of the most and making the most out of the least.
Runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs in the 3rd.
still zero runs after 3 innings.
It’s too bad Sabo isn’t here to regale us with some Gwynn stats off the top of the head (steroid free).
A cursory glance and more 4 hit games (45)than 2 strikeout games (36) stands out.
That’s in 19 seasons.
padres pitching with no spidertac is just sad and by sad i mean costing me a fortune
Not even mustering one syllable of love for my mans has brought down the thunder of karma on you.
not sure what i did but how do i undo it?
the royals are an unmitigated disgrace
I think acknowledging they have the nicest uniforms of all time should do it.
Scherzer with a 6 run lead gonna be tough. Probably gonna have to recoup in the Rockies series.
Do you have a copy of RBI baseball laying around?
What a meltdown by Max. 8-0 lead now 8-6 after giving up a grand slam to opposing relief pitcher. Max and Darvish started. 14 runs in the 4th. No spin. No win.
