Wat? Is there a double header or have I really followed baseball for like 25 years and not known that a pitcher can pitch and dh in the same game?
there was no need for it until ohtani
The best is when the pitcher has to hit because the manager screwed up the lineup card.
They also have to hit if the DH has to replace someone in the game for whatever reason.
i imagine he’s an insufferable douche, but also kinda funny

Hosmer, who is in a horrible slump right now, gets 2 horrible calls against him to end the inning with the bases loaded and then gets thrown out from the dugout a few minutes later.
Umps only get that angry when they know/suspect they goofed
Nah, a bunch of them are all DONT YOU DISRESPECT MY AUTHORITY types.
Hey @skydiver8, is there anyone at the Reds you can contact to get them to STOP SUCKING AGAINST THE PADRES!!!
Cubs put up a 7-spot in the first, lose 15-7.
last nights loss was more egregious than this one, and the brewers sent out some first career start kid who didn’t make it out of the first inning. Cubs countered with a washed up Arrieta (at least that start looked like it anyway) who didn’t make it out of the 2nd.
Sometimes you just wonder why managers don’t realize games like those effectively count for two games each in the standings.
Cubs fans on social media reacted like you’d thought with this series. Too many players that aren’t really mlb quality are playing.
real nice they traded the previous backup catcher and 2nd for cy young voting yu darvish for flotsam as a salary dump and this season (not joking) they’re now on backup catcher #5. The fourth one hit as well as bad pitchers hit and of course he pinch hit with the game on the one and got injured for it.
but this is what they wanted, but they overperformed so far this year and well that series showed they aren’t playoff contenders as is, with bryant/rizzo/baez all fa’s end of season it’s just counting the minutes until the fire sale starts.
Cubs play arizona 6 times still before the trade deadline, so they might get back into it and not trade people (about zero chance bryant stays tho so we’ll see what they do).
**** ricketts
also how the hell is it june and it’s backup catcher #5. Come on down guy who’s in the farm system I don’t know hope you can actually hit or throw a runner out unlike the last guy.
also when a pitcher subbed into the game and pitched to one batter in that 2nd inning, also not joking, he had the highest batting average in the lineup at .250 which I assumed was 1 for 4.
Cubs are just no good this year and finally showed it. Division is lackluster or weak though and they still have Arizona/Colorado which Brewers already beat down but they probably won’t get there.
It amazes me as someone new to baseball how teams with just bad lineups like the giants and brewers have better records than sick lineups (at least from a fantasy perspective) like the blue jays or braves
Uh oh
Pitching. Also, as far as the Brewers go, they’re hitting has been improving. It was the worst in the NL for a while.
Despite their overall bad hitting (even if it has been getting better), the Brewers could have a legit shot at the crown of they make the playoffs. Top three starters are lights out (Burnes has backslid a bit) and the back end of the bullpen has been great.
Well ohtani probably not getting out of the 1st. 27 pitches in and he has yet to record an out
Haha suck it Ohtani.
When they pull Ohtani are they going to move him to the outfield?
they didn’t this time.
Stick to hitting kid
