LOL Democrats - So LOL we needed a 2nd thread

Well yeah Schiff sucks, that’s a given. But of course we don’t actually have a functioning democracy anyway so this is all in the realm of the theoretical.

If the Ds just nominate a prosecutor who really wants Israel to bomb stuff they’ll finally win people over.

Was anyone actually saying that after like 2010?

You don’t know (m)any girl bosses?

I mean off the top of my head the rotting corpse herself sure thought so. But also, yeah, lots of people.

she’s still a top5 Yasss Queen of all time

Sure, but when they’ve got pancreatic cancer and serve on the SC, they are most definitely replacable.

Obviously she did herself, but she had pancreatic cancer diagnosed in '09. Maybe I’m misremembering, but I don’t think I heard ‘irreplaceable’ after that. The closest I remember is something along the lines of ‘she’s earned the right to stay as long as she wants to stay’. Who in their right mind was saying, “You know what we definitely should NOT do? Have Obama replace her with a younger liberal judge”?

Once we get to the Trump years, obviously 'irreplaceable" = hope she outlives Trump’s term because we don’t want that MFer replacing her. So while that is technically irreplaceable in a way, it’s not really in the spirit of irreplaceability.

I’d have given you that if things played out differently. As it turned out, she was a self-absorbed POS who put her personal fulfillment over the lives of many and there is massive suffering because of it. And it’s not like this wasn’t something that could not have been anticipated. Every good thing she ever did (and there were lots) has been outweighed by the selfish and tragic decision that she made. Fuck RBG.

Well I did one second of googling and this is the first result from 2014 and I’m sure there are many, many more if I bothered to look even a little more. Never underestimate how truly fucking idiotic people can be.

Well, I guess you’ve got me there. FFS, the stupidity in that article is chefskiss.jpg.

This is the best part

It was not.

The moron writing this article misses the whole goddamn point. I don’t think anyone (not even me) was questioning her mental sharpness. The problem was that she could fucking die (as she did) of either cancer or heart disease (given her history of both) or something else quite suddenly. Her good buddy Scalia died in his sleep out of nowhere. Maybe if that happened a bit earlier, she’d have come to her senses. At that point, if Senate wasn’t going to allow that his replacement to be confirmed, they wouldn’t allow hers to be either.

Yeah there was some good shit in there. “Oh she gets to assign the opinions and that’s super duper important”. As if it fucking matters who’s writing on the losing side of every major case.

Some good news:

Thanks for sharing this. I actually LOL reading it. She put forward such strong arguments as you two point out.

But she just couldn’t figure out why Obama couldn’t fill the government with progressive nominees despite his deeply held desire to do so. Nevertheless.

Us real lefties can take solace in the fact that her total obliviousness about the basic reality of American politics cost her this position as Slate’s legal writer.

Hold on. What’s that you say? She still holds the same position? And, as her wikipedia page mentions, she’s been “a regular guest on The Al Franken Show and has been a guest columnist for The New York Times Op-Ed page.” and “In 2018, the Sidney Hillman Foundation awarded Lithwick with the Hillman Prize for Opinion & Analysis Journalism noting that she “has been the nation’s best legal commentator for two decades”.

No consequences at all??? I am shocked.

Don’t actually give a shit either way about cursive.

By far the most infuriating part of that tweet is “bipartisan”.

Goddammit the Democrats cannot stop tripping over their dicks celebrating if they get Republican votes for their ideas.

“BIPARTISAN” IS NOT A SYNONYM FOR “BETTER”. Oftentimes, it’s more accurately a synonym for “worse”.

Jesus Fucking Christ. Actually stand on your ideas.

JFC. Of all the problems we have in schools, and I teach, lack of cursive isn’t one.

There’s a fucking war going on, but at least kids are learning cursive again.

I don’t care about cursive either, but it’s absurd for a state legislature to be passing laws about it one way or the other.
