Citing the Dow tells you this persons understanding of economics ends at cnn headlines. It pretty much allows me to ignore the rest of the post.
Or he is âCiting the Dowâ because heâs aware that thatâs what passes for 80% of economic analysis on most major media outfits and so it fits as a data point in the larger persuasive case for Kamala/Dems on the economy.

He was bitching about how he thinks Harris is gonna break her promise to allow fracking, which he feels is so desperately needed for the economy. So I hit him with the âfactâ that we produced more oil in 2023 than 2018. He was completely unfazed and just said thatâs despite Biden and not because of him
It really is a futile effort. And ironically, he feels itâs just as futile talking with me :/
It does have little to do with Biden and it also had little to do with Trump. Oil production in the US has pretty consistently gone up since the mid-2000s aside from dropping because of the demand decrease caused by COVID and then recovering following the recovery.
Banning fracking would have a large impact though as almost 2/3 of production now comes from fracked wells. Biden promised to ban it, but didnât. I guess Harris was for fracking, then against, and is for again. The Dems are surely at least somewhat less reliable on fracking, but in the end they will frack and oil production will remain high. Unfortunately. I donât know if you all have heard of global warming.

There are a lot of ways to attack this.
Iâd start with âOK, what did Biden specifically do to diminish oil productionâ.
Of course, you are correct; itâs futile. Iâd still have fun with it, but thatâs just me.
Presidents have close to zero influence on oil production levels.
Also, fracking is nothing more than a buzz word and 99% of people who think they are against it have zero idea what it is. Itâs just used as a replacement for âoil productionâ.
Fracking has been happening for 50 years.
The panic against it is a left wing example of anti-vaxxing.

The problem with fracking is that they gave it a name that sounds like a swear word imo. Would be a lot less controversial if they just named it cody or madison.
