I think her time is better spent campaigning. If she has an opportunity to reach a huge audience of possible D voters (like doing some big podcast or something) she should take it, but I don’t care if she doesn’t give a press conference.
The only non-friendly interview that Trump has done recently was the NABJ, where he embarrassed himself badly and ran out early.
You just know if she sat down for an interview with any news outlet that they would try to be tough as hell on her. It doesn’t serve her at all other than staving off the talking point that she’s too scared to do an unscripted media event.

I don’t think she should be doing 2 hour pressers every day, but she should definitely give a few. I still think there are some folks who might be willing to vote for her but don’t know much about her and may feel a little uncomfortable with the way she “suddenly” became the nominee. Seeing/hearing her even a few times should make it easier for those kinds of people to vote for her. Plus, as you said, simply avoiding the, “why is she ducking the hard questions?” type stories seems good.
