I love doing stuff like that so, so much. I was once renting a house and the furnace stopped working. The landlord was out of the country so I had to handle it and called a repair company (one of those that advertises and has tons of vans all over the place). They came out and quoted something like $900 to fix it. I needed the landlord’s approval for that high of a cost, so I emailed him. While I was waiting for a reply, I googled the info on the quote from the repair company and learned that the part that needed replacing cost $50 and could be replaced in 10 minutes. I fixed it and the landlord credited me $450 off my rent.
Two weeks later the house exploded
