That room was empty from the time they moved in until the interview.
Long story short, CRISPR and Cas9 are, together, a DNA editing strategy that…tries to be specific at editing a very specific part of the genome, but it’s unclear how frequently it might edit off-target sites. The old guy is throwing out publication titles saying that there are no off-target effects, and the young guy is throwing out papers that find off-target effects. Any off-target effects, if this were to be used in people, have a decent chance of killing them. I’m sympathetic to the younger guy.
