I’d say not insider trading. If you go to McDonald’s on the first day of new Big Mac formula and it sucks, short that sucker.

The standard articulation of insider trading is using material non-public information. If you’re on a flight with dozens of other people then that’s not non-public information.

An example of insider trading would be if you had an internal airplane manufacturer report showing that the doors are unsafe, but that information hasn’t been released to the public yet. You’re not allowed to sell all your shares before the report is released or a press conference is held notifying the public.
