If I want to ship $7,500 to Russian camgirls, I’ll definitely use DB, the funtime party bank.

Of course there is no jail time for people facilitating an international child trafficking ring.

Really not trying to derail but whoever the fuck is saying White Knight in this thread should go fuck themselves. Shit has really gone full circle (ITF) when you are using a phrase that is both implicitly racist and implies treating women with respect is some kind of bad thing. Think for yourself with your brain for moment please. ///derail

I never took white knight to imply treating women with respect, it’s constantly used online (twitter) to mean defending someone, especially someone you don’t know personally. But looking it up online those weren’t the original uses, the more you know

Yeah, I think “white knight” is used to mean a different thing these days.

Whenever I see “White Knight” the first thing I think of is

Now questioning whether I actually know what ‘white knight’ meant originally, and what it means currently. brb

I think white knight is now archaic and the modern term is “simp”

afaict my understanding of ‘white knight’ is consistent with all major uses past and present, and the current discussion ITT confuses me.

I’d clarify it but that would be mansplaining

This is basically correct. It didn’t really stop meaning this, the terms are basically synonymous. Maybe that’s not what everyone saying it intend, but certainly some people do.

In the context of online activity, White Knight used to mean a man that jumps in to defend a woman in an online forum, but not because of some great respect for women. The idea was that the WK was some thirsty dude with no respect for women and was jumping in to “defend” the woman because they had a superficial instinct to defend the woman and expected some kind of reward or attention from the woman for doing so. In other words, they had absolutely no respect for women.

Online: Derogatory name for a man who defends a woman for the sole purpose of gaining her attention, approval, or favor. A suck up.

I interpreted white knighting to refer to benevolent sexism. Glad to learn it has even worse implications.

I don’t think that’s her Reddit. A reddit mod or two claim to know this user because he is also a mod with them and it’s a man from Malaysia. The true anon folks don’t think it’s her either. her actual twitter account was found a couple of days ago though and people dig thru the commenters on that and found a couple of interesting things
