I mean I’ve laid out some strategic ideas a few times in the last couple days in here.
ETA: I’m not required to have a better message to know the one that is out there is not working. It’s like that comedian said, just because I can’t pilot a helicopter doesn’t mean I can’t say look out for that fucking tree.
This, too, like it’s not like Dems realize their strategy isn’t working and keep trying new stuff. No, they are running around like nunnehi, celebrating their success. Oh, well, Rachel Maddow thinks you’re making a great case to the American people, cool for you Adam Schiff. Oh, Don Lemon agrees with you? Good for you, Pelosi.
OK so Swalwell was direct and said stop spreading Russian propoganda. How can he better communicate this?
Well, he’s tweeting it into an echo chamber, for starters. Like, nothing that is said on CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, in the NYT, in the WaPo, on Twitter, etc matters. You’ve either got to find ways to get your message on neutral territory (probably via advertising) or on their territory (via advertising or interviews). They should also be trying to get their message to the apathetic and apolitical.
Dems should be advertising during sports, trying to utilize social media advertising, battling to reframe the media as neutral rather than liberally biased (this means attacking them for being conservative - I’ve posted about this extensively the last few years), and trying to come up with other ways to pierce the bubble.
It is not the Dems problem if people are so stupid that they need to fact check racist garbage like that.
It’s precisely the Dems problem. It’s sure as shit not the Republicans’ problem if a segment of the population is so stupid that they need to (and don’t) fact check racist garbage like that, then go vote for the Republicans as a result.
nstead of just the words on the screen imagine a voiceover by Sam Elliot or Meryl Streep. And imagine a lot of quick shots of the bad guys looking bad, the good guys looking good, Ukrainian soldiers fighting, etc. all set to a moving score. It’s probably still too complicated and could be trimmed to 90 or even 60 seconds.
The point is there are plenty of people out there who still don’t get it. And I don’t see any downside to at least trying to win this messaging war.
This. 60 seconds. Badass voiceover, sound clips, ominous music over videos of the bad guys, heroic music over videos of the good guys. They admit it themselves… Mick Mulvaney soundbite, Gordon Sondland soundbite.
This Congressman from IL is doing a good job imo. Maybe he will give us a brief consult.
He’s doing a tremendous job of breaking through to people who are reading threads of 32 tweets.
In other words, he’s doing a shitty job, or at least this job he’s doing on Twitter is pointless.
