Yeah, that’s all true. I was commenting more on expecting unified messaging on health care when there is always going to be a massive incentive to propose a different idea and using that as a springboard to fame and power, and on the difficulty of combating an endless barrage of lies with only the truth.
I would imagine the Dems consider running campaign-style ads for impeachment to be beyond the pale of good discourse. They believe that impeachment should be as non-partisan as possible and that everyone should do their Constitutional duty, then we’ll all toast marshmallows and sing Kumbaya, My Lord.
It may be in good faith, but we’re at the point where it’s not about protecting norms, it’s about protecting a democratic system of government here by whatever means are necessary so that we can restore norms.

Preach brother
I’m buzy atm but I found this for you to read…
TEH BLACK BOOK!!!

I am sympathetic to the principle you’re advocating.
Perhaps I am naive about the whole thing. I am reflecting on their POV In the same way I stopped to reflect on how some of your public decisions as a moderator are much more difficult and complex from your perspective vs ours.
Re ACA: I don’t want to start another fight about the larger issue, but the Medicaid expansion provisions seem to have a genuine improvement in the states that chose to expand. (The Effects of Medicaid Expansion under the ACA: Studies from January 2014 to January 2020 | KFF ) I hope all the US-based peeps are up to date on whether their state expanded, and, if it didn’t, what the process is to get it done in your state, whether via action by your government officials or (possibly) ballot initiative. While you’re waiting for M4A, this can really help some people right now.
Re impeachment: my dream scenario would be one more round of hearings more specifically targeting cover up/ obstruction issues. I’m not sure if we can get the key witnesses in a timely fashion (or how truthful they would be), but give me a week of testimony about secret servers, dangled pardons, and improper attempts to fire investigators followed by two well-written articles of impeachment for bribery and interference with lawful investigations and I’d be a happy camper.
Cool. Cool cool cool. Might be doing a little more light reading today.

This is an excellent point on Medicaid expansion. Those who benefitted from it experienced a change in medical benefits such that they’ll never perceive health insurance the same way. This and protection for preexisting conditions were huge.
If we ever get M4A, it’s going to be because of the ACA. I mean pretty much every president for the last 50-60 years tried to pull off some healthcare bill and failed.
That would be wholly inappropriate partisan editorializing rather than objective reporting.
Possible for any of you harping on failed messaging to offer examples of successful messaging campaigns for the kinds of things you value?
Doesn’t have to be political. Give me a successful campaign for Coke. Just tell me what modern messaging strategy would look like if it did something similar.

I can’t tell what level this post is on
This is not for you, but there are bunch of people itt who should get fucked with the “can’t reach a guy like burr” argument because I can’t even get a simple fucking point across to them. It’s not and has never been about Burr.
LOL it’s never been about Burr says the guy that keeps bringing Burr up. I mean dude, in his 2016 special on Netflix he even says Trump wouldn’t be so bad if he wasn’t racist. Fast forward 3 years and he’s just askin’ questions like the common man and can’t figure out anything other than both sides do it. And you think this is some insight into the American psyche. Bill Burr is being willfully ignorant. You CANNOT reach people that are like this. He does not and never has represented the average person in this country. Even if he’s of average intelligence, he has the money, time, and resources that the average American does not. He can EASILY find out what’s going on if he so chooses. Meanwhile, Betty at the diner just got off her 2nd shift of the day and made $28 after taxes. She’s wondering how she’s going to pay rent next month considering she’s off Thursday night b/c it’s Thanksgiving. But yea, Bill Burr represents her. Just askin’ questions like the common man he is. GMAFB.
It has been shown time and time again that voters want to talk about the issues more than impeachment. Schiff and Pelosi are focused on the impeachment while Sanders, Harris, Warren etc. are focused on the issues and running for POTUS. It is 2 separate things. Anyway, I’m done talking about this.
Almost every one of the headlines admits quid pro quo took place or that they were following the president’s orders. Again, personal responsibility comes into play. You have to be able to do this without having everything spoon fed to you.
One of the big problems is that the last time this happened, the American people trusted the media regardless of party. So with Nixon, the media covered the facts and the American people believed them.
Meanwhile, most low info adults just assume the truth is somewhere in between the Democrats and Republicans. They assume both suck equally and that both will operate within certain bounds of reason. So when that’s not happening, but the low info public hasn’t figured it out, we get this.
In a world with Fox News, there is literally nobody holding the GOP accountable for its bullshit, there is nobody piercing that bubble, and like 30-40% of the country doesn’t trust NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, NYT, WaPo, etc…
And Dems seem to still be operating off of the 1970s playbook.
Doesn’t have to be political. Give me a successful campaign for Coke. Just tell me what modern messaging strategy would look like if it did something similar.
You can’t compare them. 40% of the country isn’t watching Pepsi News telling them Coke Sucks and anyone telling you otherwise is FAKE NEWS!

I agree. That is where I’m struggling. Easy ideas from the sidelines and instant replays, but in the hot seat? This is hard.
Okay JT. Let me hear some messaging strategy.
Specific politicians, how they will coordinate with specific media outlets.
If you think all ancillary considerations should be cast aside, pretend I’m Pelosi or a managing editor for a newspaper or anything you think would matter. Persuade me.
OK so Swalwell was direct and said stop spreading Russian propoganda. How can he better communicate this?
