I realized a really unbelievably fucked up thing about meta the other day.
It’s long been known that the feed algorithm prefers shoveling marketed crap at you rather than updates from your actual friends, this was no secret. Pretty transparently evil and hypocritical given cuckerturd’s stated goal of bringing people together, but whatever.
but then I realized how truly fucked it is - there are undoubtedly tons of people (I am one) that live a lot of their lives online and maintain their connections through fb/ig. Meta has a penchant for shadowbanning people it deems undesirable for whatever reason.so, if they decided this about you, they could effectively make you invisible to your entire social circle. I’m sure this has happened on a massive scale, and it’s so fucked. I bet people have killed themselves and shit.
I’m in kind of a weird facebook group that’s basically people just telling their stories about this kind of stuff, it’s gnarly
yeah this is horrific…
most of the stuff posted here didn’t really push me over the “delete facebook” fence… but this makes me want to get all my friends and family into getting rid of it.

i have an idle and delusional fantasy that ill get a job at meta and then destroy it from within with some gnarly virus or just incompetence
i’m in their interview system, I progressed far enough that I got spooked and ghosted them, but you’re able to try again every 6 months
i firmly believe it’s one of the most evil things to have ever existed

another reason that story is horrible that it doesn’t touch on too much is that medication is intended for use in the first 12 weeks! anything after that is dangerous, at least from my experience and what I was told. 28 weeks is nuts and probably was her only option available to her.
Yeah this is going to get worse. A couple friends of mine sometimes give me shit about my privacy concerns (e.g. I fucking HATE Ring doorbells) but this shit all dovetails together in a beautiful surveillance state. If I can ever afford a house (LOL) it would be the dumbest house on the block.

i do not allow any smart devices into my home, they’re all spying on you, it’s not even a paranoid tinfoil thing anymore, they full blown watch every single thing you do
even if they’re not malicious, there are sites out there that are just thousands of live links of people who have hacked these devices and they peek in on baby cams and whatever else they can find. It’s incredibly insecure
Yeah, like Amazon devices will inappropriately record people’s conversations in their homes (and sometimes randomly send it to other Alexa users) and we’re somehow supposed to believe they have this ability to listen to everything in homes and they don’t ever do that? “No, no, we’d never do something so nefarious” ok sure Jeff I believe you. Go put your Ring cameras up in space or up your ass
it doesn’t even matter if they wouldn’t because they have legions of employees like me that can access it if they want to, only takes 1 single bad apple. I of course dont know for a fact but internal security in every place I’ve looked at for work has been shockingly lax. I’d be surprised if meta or anyone else was the exception. they dont have any incentive really.
they do get audited but what I know about security audits is they are kind of a joke.
People did read the article and know that Facebook was just complying with a valid search warrant, right?
Man, the stories I could tell about how fucking difficult it was to get facebook to comply with court processes for actual murder cases. They definitely could have and chose not to put up a fight on this one.
