Says the guy who uses republican talking points

And surely weā€™re better than outright fascists

If it takes this type of fighting - gatekeeping on absurd things, calling people enemies of the people, snakes, who donā€™t see 100% eye to eye with you - then count me out. Count me out of this movement, count me out of this site, count me out of everything. This is absolutely stupid and not coming from a place of logic or reason whatsoever.

1 or 2 at the most came out with that phase your talking about J, we never supported it to start with, itā€™s bad yes we get itā€¦ The fascist stuff is also a bad look and Iā€™m not defending anyone in particular here, but donā€™t paint the forum over 1 or 2 snide comments from a troll.

It only takes 1 or 2 very loud people to dominate a discussion. And, look at the likes those posts are getting as well. It isnā€™t just a handful of people. Itā€™s several. I think itā€™s really toxic, and you are talking to someone who spends time trolling republican discussions for fun. My bar for toxic is super fucking hard to reach.

Anyway, youā€™re right, itā€™s time for several people to go on ignore. I wonā€™t talk about it anymore. Iā€™ve said about all I can say about it.

Yeahā€¦ Iā€™d say thatā€™s an extreme view towards some of the posts no doubt without looking, I admit folks over reacted, I get it.

Most all appoligiedā€¦ That was good to see.

Us all having to agree with each other is not the opposite of fascism.

Iā€™m going to try ignoring anachronistic and Victor and see how it goes.

I almost just tapped out yesterday tbh. Walrus (GOAT) pulled me back today. I really wish we would decide to just let a few moderators take the reigns and throw out a few temp bans once in a while. ā€œCommunity governingā€ just means no governing at this point, which has made these threads incredibly toxic, especially as things have been heating up lately.

Man, I have to say, ignoring the big V has made this forum so much better.

But mostly I want to mention that I appreciate the contributions made by the vast majority of posters on this forum, regardless if Iā€™m in lockstep with them or not. This is such a valuable resource for me, so thank you!

Itā€™s like @Vict0ar doesnā€™t understand that even if Bernie wins the nomination, he needs about 68 million votes in the general election to be president and about 12 million of them will probably have been Pete supporters. But, sure, alienate 'em all. Itā€™s cool, weā€™ll take another decade+ of Trumpism. What could go wrong?

Deplorable are often mocked for the ā€œlibs were mean to me so I had to vote orangeā€ logic. Is this any different? The Bernie or bust Bros were certainly criticized for this way of thinking in 2016. Was Sarah Silverman responsible for losing the election bc she called them ridiculous?

To be so enlightened about an (eventually) losing political candidate but then devolve into ā€œtake my ball and go homeā€ if the winner doesnā€™t say exactly what I need to hear, seems to mean you kinda missed the point to begin with.

You donā€™t understand how fucked up it is for the majority of the country. We need to redistribute the wealth as quickly as possible.

1K unconditionally stacked with UHC would reduce stress for the majority of the country.

Saying those people will just spend it on drugs is exactly what the right says.

Of course itā€™s not enough but now means tested benefits are being slashed.

You have to come from a place of immense privilege to not see how it would help so many people.

Do a little research on UBI and take the emotion of your candidate not supporting it at this time because he thinks it is to extreme for the US.

The twists this thread have taken are pretty crazy.

Do some of us (myself included at times) probably take things a little far? Of course. I think many of us though see this time in our lives and American history as a do or die inflection point.

It was easy to ignore the stink of the rotting of the country or make excuses for it until Trump. He ripped the tarp off that was preventing us from seeing exactly how bad it really was under there and now we have to see the putrid stinking mess we actually live in with flies swarming everywhere on a daily basis.

My anger towards people like Pete and his supporters comes from the fact that they still refuse to see it. They still say shit like we need to come together and are in complete denial that we need a complete overhaul at all levels of government and society rather than just stirring the shit slightly differently so we have 10% less flies. They are in denial that the racists and neo-liberals ā€œcoming togetherā€ IS THE FUCKING PROBLEM.

Itā€™s hard to be nice to people who espouse those kinds of viewpoints. They literally are working against the goals of the Bernie/AOC wing of the party. They are literally working against the health and well being of my family and everyone else I know. And for what? So they can get those sweet corporate grifting bucks and get more power for themselves. Itā€™s sick.

Sure, but why did yang insist on getting a significant chunk of his ubi from poor people? heā€™s not and never was on our side

You are either dishonest or ignorant.

I donā€™t think Yang is a bad guy but UBI as he conceived it is not good. It really is astounding to see people try attacking leftists from the left with an idea championed by Milton Friedman. Thatā€™s why Iā€™ve generally been negative about Yangā€™s campaign and his supporters.
