International Soccer: POCH

Only been watching since about 20 seconds before the US goal, but the US has seemed…fine?

modern era being defined as 1990 makes sense in the context of us soccer, but that doesn’t mean I’m ok with feeling this old

sure looked offside live, off on replay

if we’re going to play a ton of long balls take off sargent and put on Jordan Siebatcheu

disappointed by Pulisic but Mexico is shifting towards him a ton

Okay, last 5 minutes were not great.

Is this Mexico’s first team that’s playing or do they have any key guys not playing.

Mexico has missed so many chances

US has missed a couple too

ream off, Tyler Adams on imo, flex to a 4-3-3 with dest and yedlin on the wings

But you have to look at their output as well, not just where they’re playing. Pulisic isn’t even a regular starter, whereas Jiménez was having an unreal good stretch w/Wolves. Also Tecatito won player of the year in the Portuguese League. Davies at Bayern is def. the most impressive of all though. And they also have David who played a pretty big role in Lille winning the French League over PSG. Wild times we live in.

Mexico’s best player, Jiménez, suffered a brutal head injury a year ago and is still recovering. He’s super crucial to Mexico’s system and a big loss. Other than that, their top guys are mostly available.

Would you say he is more or less important than Pulisic is to USA?

Probably slightly more important. Even moreso that his backup, JJ Macias, is also out. Mexico’s other options at the #9 are awful, so that’s why we’re seeing this funky lineup, they’ve had to change everything around playing without a 9.

Thanks.

Sounds like an actually good team would have no problem with these guys. Of course, we’re not actually a good team.

Talent level is higher than it’s ever been, but it’s a very young team and they need time. They’ll be much better for the '26 World Cup than '22.

Wow they’re going to be even better when they’re defending the Cup?

By that point it will be like the Dream Team in the Olympics.

people getting tired, getting sloppy

weah as a wingback is interesting. hasn’t done much of that for USMNT

Ochoa is a fucking shit keeper, sargent has to finish that awful rebound

Looks like they switched to a back 4
