That was much more of a thing with Chelsea because of the sheer vulgarity with how they operated, plus they were the first oligarch club so City haven’t attracted as much flak.
Pretty hard disagree.
People hate City/PSG on a much higher level. Theyve frequently broken FFP laws where Chelsea have not.
There’s also a strong feeling here that Chelsea, a smallish club with only one league title in 50 years, used corrupt Russian money extorted from poor people to buy titles; whereas City were a big club in the 60s/70s before it all went wrong.

No. People here know their football history, believe me.
It’s kind of weird to come late to soccer fandom (outside the world cup). I feel like I’m missing so much of this kind of context. Unlike, with the NFL where I instantly judge you if you’re a pats fan for, well, all the reasons.

- I found Chesea’s stadium walking around on my month long trip to london, it was cool juxtapose against the old style london neighborhood
- I went to a Fulham game because they were in championship league (and will be again) and were much cheaper

No, Jalfrezi is right, Chelsea get far more hate because the’d never have gotten there without the FSB.
Edit: Also its very rare to find an actual Chelsea fan outside the capital, I know they exist but they are rare, most people up here support Arsenal funnily as a PL team.
Yeah I mean young football fans here are fascinated with books showing year by year events in the major competitions going back a long way.
Young fans read about the white horse FA cup final and Matthews etc and look at tables of which clubs have won the most titles and cups etc.

Ive stopped trying to wind the young yins up here too wrt the PL, the depth of information they have is unreal, my soon to be In-law, a young lad from a poor background knows more than most on the PL and he’s not even English.
