Wormburner goes in!
the good: up 2-0 at HT
the bad: generated no other real scoring chances besides two long range goals which go in <5% of the time against by far the worst team in the tournament.
Am I the only one whose jimmies are rustled by Euros and Copa America running at the same time? I donât have enough time to watch all these games. Get it together FIFA!
I live under bit of a rock when comes to sports, is North America always included in this tourney now? Has always felt like World Cup was essentially only thing anyone but the most serious USA fans ever saw so nice to have something with international meaning every 2 years now if this permanent
well the Olympics start in 5 weeks so their hands are kind of tied.
Copa used to be in the odd years i believe before Covid.
Copa was always even, non World Cup years. years. The new part (it has been done once before), is holding the event in the US. It is primarily a South American competition.
Was US always included? I thought usually we had our own BS one nobody cared about playing Caribbean countries
Copa America has often included non-South American teams because itâs hard* to have a reasonable tournament with group stages and a significant knockout phase when youâve only got 12 teams.
I donât know that this is permanent (it may be), but if theyâre looking for money, inviting USA/Mexico (and even Canada) every single time makes a lot of sense.
Same. Yeah, I was all wtf as well.
I love the group games, but thereâs just too many to watch all the ones you want to.
Pretty difficult to not run it at the same time considering how packed the season is in all the European leagues.
We do have a BS one no one cares about. The US has also played in SA based Copas a couple times.
From wiki:
On 28 March 2023, Bolivia registered its first-ever away win against a World Cup team in the 21st century, a 2â1 over Saudi Arabia in Jeddah in a friendly.
did Brazil bring their B team or something?
supposedly the lowest capped team on average in the tournament. i just think itâs a transition period?
lol Brazil incoming?
Would make the Uruguay USA game super interesting because who would want to finish first and play Brazil?
Honestly Colombia might be better rn
I was thinking maybe they just dont care about this tournament but apparently Rodrygo and Vinicius both started today, maybe theyâre just in a rebuilding period
Ref going full concacaf in swallowing the whistle
CONCACAF is a different animal. Thereâs a big adjustment period.
Good team on paper (besides full back) that just doesnt play well together. Vini is the current leader for the ballon dâor and plays like a pumpkin for brazil
Is there a team with a bigger luckbox in international soccer than Uruguay? Tiny country. 2 World Cups and a boatload of Copa Americas. Shouldnât be possible. Doing all of that with fewer people than the Detroit metropolitan area.
