Impeachment Watch by The Numbers

We have a thread dedicated to Pelosi’s inaction, but not one dedicated to who’s on the record in support of starting an official impeachment inquiry. I think this is the place that should go, and will update this thread every time someone goes on record in support of starting an impeachment inquiry when I notice a change.

This link is the live updating list that is likely the most accurate and comprehensive:

This is the link I use to refer to who voted Yay or Nay on tabling the Al Green impeachment resolution:

http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2019/roll483.xml

I’m not going to list all the ins and outs about who’s for or against starting an impeachment inquiry, but will note every time whether the person who goes on the record was Yay or Nay on tabling the impeachment resolution. Those who were not on the record and voted Yay on tabling the resolution are the important ones. They were not in support until the day they went on the record.

I’ll just note what’s happened since Sunday in this post. As of my writing of this post 108 Democrats and 1 former GOP are on the record supporting officially starting an impeachment inquiry.

Sunday July 28, 2019:

Denny Heck (WA)-Voted Yay to table
Derek Kilmer (WA)-Voted Yay to table
Kim Schier (WA)-Voted Yay to table
Suzan DelBene (WA)-Voted Yay to table

Monday July 29, 2019:

Dina Titus (NV)-Voted Nay to table
Emmanuel Cleaver (MO)-Voted Yay to table

Tuesday July 30, 2019:

Jose E. Serrano (NY)-Voted Yay to table

The Yays are significant and building. Many of those who have gone on record since Mueller’s testimony voted Yay to table that resolution. Many of the Nays have not, though it can be extrapolated that they are in support of impeachment proceedings beginning, but not on the record about it yet (meaning I’m crediting them as being on the record without being on the record).

Is your Democratic Representative on the record in support of starting an official impeachment inquiry? If not, are you willing to contact that person?

Mine is not, and I contacted the person today. I went through the office’s official email, but will also be reading what I wrote over the phone to whoever or whatever answers if there is not a change in the Representative’s stance this week. I was rough, forceful, and thorough in what I wrote. It should have an impact if this person is worthy of being in the House of Representatives. I can share it without identifying information of who the Representative is or where I live if there is interest. Of course it’s long.

Donald Payne, Jr. of New Jersey come on down! You’re the next contestant on Impeachment Is Right!

Donald voted Nay on tabling Al Green’s impeachment resolution, and is the 109th Democrat to go on the record in support of starting an official impeachment inquiry. The blurb accompanying his stance stated Politico had him on the record on July 18th. His office confirmed it today.

Grace Meng of New York come on down! You’re the next contestant on Impeachment is Right!

Grace voted Nay on tabling Al Green’s impeachment resolution, and is the 110th Democrat to go on the record in support of starting an official impeachment inquiry.

Jennifer Wexton of Virginia come on down! You’re the next contestant on Impeachment is Right!

Jennifer voted Yay on tabling Al Green’s impeachment resolution, and is the 111th Democrat to go on record in support of starting an official impeachment inquiry.

She won in 2018 against a Republican incumbent in a ‘ground zero’ type of seat. This is the exact type of seat Pelosi has been saying she’s trying to protect. Her statement is strong about why she’s doing it, as was Grace Meng’s. That language would be good for other fence sitters to adopt.

As an addition to this, Act Blue claims there are 114 (including Amash) on the record in support of starting an official impeachment inquiry. The morons decided to make the list alphabetical (reducing the historical significance of when they did it), so I had to cross reference that the two missing from CNN’s list are Karen Bass (CA) and Frank Pallone (NJ). Both voted Nay on tabling Al Green’s impeachment resolution, which means neither is a surprise.

Huh, I thought they were all out on vacation or whatever.

Eliot Engel of New York come on down! You’re the next contestant on Impeachment is Right!

Eliot is the Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. This is considered a big deal. He’s the 112th (or 114th) Democrat to go on record in support of starting an official impeachment inquiry.

Only 6 (or 4) more Democrats are needed to hit the critical mass of over half the Caucus being in support of opening an official impeachment inquiry. We are nearing 30 people going on the record in support of opening an official impeachment inquiry in the last 14 days.

This kinda pisses me off b/c it’s a huge problem when obviously a lot support impeachment but refuse to do the right thing unless there’s safety in numbers. This should have been done months ago.

Yep, is your Rep GOP or Dem?

Mine is Dem and not on the record yet. I wrote the person an email through their website and will be calling and reading what I wrote to a person or voicemail if the person isn’t on the record by the end of the week.

Ted Yoho, Little Marco and Prick Scott. LOL. I’m in Alachua County. It’s like 90% Dem but surrounded by 10 counties that are 90% GOP.

You should call that clown and ask if he ever plans on standing up for the Constitution in his entire miserable life. I’m pretty sure that’s the guy who thinks as a Representative that he works for Trump and is not a Representative for actual people very separate from the Executive branch. I have no idea how that guy is still in Congress.

Two more have added this morning, bringing the total to 114 (or 116) Democrats and 1 former GOP.

The new adds are Jason Crow (CO) and Judy Chu (CA). Both voted Yay to table the Al Green impeachment resolution, but are now on the record in support of starting an official impeachment inquiry.

Too soon? :relaxed:

200 Days Fighting The People seems more appropriate.

I’d like to see a name list for that photo (can you find any captions for it?), but I see a minimum of 2 people there who are on the record for starting an official impeachment inquiry. I just don’t know the faces well enough to know who’s who.

No captions for the photo, sorry :pensive:

Tony Cardenas of California come on down! You’re the next contestant on Impeachment is Right!

He’s the 115th (or 117th) Democrat to go on record in support of starting an official impeachment inquiry. I picked his name up from ActBlue (having to find a needle in a haystack with their stupid site), and expect he’ll be listed on CNN’s site tomorrow.

The next person to go on the record for the Democrats will win the Golden Ticket of pushing over the hump of half the Democratic Caucus being on the record in support of starting an impeachment inquiry.

What about yours?

One of yours one of the 4 on Sunday?

my rep is a POS. i am wondering if the one dem rep in the state will pull the trigger though. would be interesting…

Well, it happened. They maybe crossed the 118 Democrats in Congress threshold to make it over half the Caucus in support of starting an official impeachment inquiry. That’s according to ActBlue. CNN has the count at 116, but I have no reason to dispute the characterization of the other two as being on the record in support.

The first person, let’s call her 117, is Nita Lowey of New York. She had voted Nay to table Al Green’s impeachment resolution. So, no big deal.

For the no turning back moment, I figured that person might be tough to get because of the potential publicity around doing so. That makes number 118 the ultimate chef’s kiss, because this guy seems like a total political calculator. Even I was unsure after the hearing where he stood, and I was surprised he wasn’t on the record after seeing interviews with him months ago.

That man’s name is Ted Deutch from Florida, number 118, the guy who took the Caucus over the top. He’s a significant guy for a couple of reasons. The first is that he voted Yay to table Al Green’s impeachment resolution. The second is that he’s on the Judiciary Committee. Him coming out on the record in support of starting an official impeachment inquiry makes 20 Democrats on the House Judiciary who absolutely are in support of starting an official impeachment inquiry (Nadler isn’t on the record, but yeah). One more, and it can move forward officially if they decide to buck Pelosi.

24 Democrats in the House, most who voted Yay to table Al Green’s impeachment resolution, have come out on the record in support of starting an official impeachment inquiry since Mueller’s testimony (might be 26 since there’s no timing log on ActBlue). Roughly 20 percent of the people on the record have come out in the last week. That’s what’s called a groundswell.

Deutch saw his moment and took it. The next moment should belong to Lucy McBath, but I doubt she’ll take it. Let’s see if the dam breaks now. 118 Democrats are officially on the record (based on ActBlue’s numbers) against Pelosi. There are still more than 5 weeks of recess left. From now on, I’ll just be putting names, numbers, and whether they voted Yay or Nay. Nothing of historical significance is left other than a lone holdout on the Judiciary Committee. Stay tuned…

You’ll hear it here first if they do. No one should expect any GOP to come across the line. They’re retiring rather than bucking (5 in the last week), which tells me even they understand they shouldn’t be in Congress if they’re not willing to do their Constitutional duty. That’s a perfectly fine outcome for me and opens up 5 seats in Congress for potential battle.
