ICE: it's really bad and getting worse

ICE has their own system.

The point of a REAL ID is to show that you are either a citizen or a lawful immigrant.

How would people feel if you could do a deal to allow some sort of ID stuff in exchange for a comprehensive fix that gives some legal status for DREAMers and the undocumented who qualify? Basically, give clear and legal status to everyone who was here under uncertain circumstances in exchange for giving Republicans more tools for verifying identities. (I’d drive a pretty hard bargain in getting as much as possible.). Maybe make it so that anyone in this country has a presumption of being here legally and that not speaking English is not grounds to doubt someone’s presence or whatever other conditions you want to put on this. Is a deal possible, based on conditions to be negotiated, or are you opposed to any possible deal?

but bovino’s goal isn’t to determine if someone is a citizen or not, his goal is to fuck wiht brown people.

Well, that’s because Bovino is un-American.

West Valley is adjacent to Salt Lake City. Large immigrant communities. Hispanic, Asian, and Pacific Island. “Minority-majority.”

Yep! This is what they do. They’re paid for it! And the enablers will rationalise it…

Gotta justify spending all that massive sweet, sweet & fat taxpayer money on fat larpers running around trying to get a taxpayer-paid bonus to get some random head-shrink number up. Better that than getting a bit of healthcare for someone - cos they might be brown ya know. [Where do I stop the sarcasm?…]

Yeah, don’t forget: this is your taxpayer money!

It’s great that people are doing things!

It’s sad that people have to do things!

https://www.cato.org/blog/dhs-policy-threatening-arresting-ice-observers-violates-their-rights

Specifically, the document defines domestic terrorism broadly to include “doxing” and “impeding” immigration and other law enforcement. Doxing is not specifically defined, but the memo references calls to require Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to give their names and operate unmasked. Individuals who donate to organizations that “impede” or “dox” will be investigated and deemed to have supported “domestic terrorism.”

Therefore, it is crucial to understand that ICE and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) consider people who follow DHS and ICE agents to observe, record, or protest their operations as engaging in “impeding.” DHS has a systematic policy of threatening people who follow ICE or DHS agents to record their activities with detentions, arrests, and violence, and agents have already chased, detained, arrested, charged, struck, and shot at people who follow them.

The purpose of this post is to establish that these incidents are not isolated overreach by individual agents, but rather, an official, nationwide policy of intimidating and threatening people who attempt to observe and record DHS operations. This matters legally because courts are more likely to enjoin an official policy rather than impose some new requirements to stop sporadic, uncoordinated actions by individual agents.

Lol that’s minimum that they’re supposed to be doing

Ice just randomly spray a car with pepper spray as they drive past, getting a baby girl.

Edit. It’s a month old. Oops

Update on the two guys who were arrested after someone overheard them at a restaurant.

Turns out not to be true

The guys were talking about hunting and not using assault rifles to use during hunting because they destroy the animal leaving no meat. One of them was going to Las Vegas, but to watch a Formula One race. They didn’t buy any guns, the feds ran their first and last names through the firearms database without their middle initials resulting in hits from other people with their name

After reading I’m not sure if she was convicted yet or the jury just went into deliberations.

Dugan, who pleaded not guilty, could face up to six years in prison if convicted as charged.

Dugan was found guilty of obstructing federal agents and not guilty of concealing an undocumented immigrant from arrest during an April courthouse incident.

She was convicted. I agree the article is sloppy. I think someone or something probably scraped it from a live blog/ AP wire copy or just updated copy from an earlier story about it or something… The other article I saw was WAPO paywalled so I tried to give a non paywalled source, and got what I paid for I guess.
