LMAO he plagiarized Wikipedia? That’s amazing. Is anyone trolling him back on 2p2 for it yet?
Odds if we went through chapter by chapter we’d find that like 80% of the book is just lifted from Wiki?

Hah I did not mean you! :P
Hello Cuserounder,
The purpose of the volume is not to restate already known and undisputed historical facts, such as the Battle of David and Goliath, it is to add commentary and insight that only an experienced gambler and professional statistician who worked for the Census bureau can bring. We are using Wikipedia for the factual backdrop and adding our own commentary.
I hope that clears up any confusion.
Best wishes,
MM
Real.
No, wait, Onion.
Fuck. Which is it?
I’ll let you wonder.
Who outsourced to someone else, who outsourced to someone else, who outsourced…
Cliffs: A developer hired a hitman to take out a rival. That hitman hired a hitman, who hired a hitman, who hired a hitman, who hired a hitman. The last hitman contacted the rival developer and convinced him to just fake his death.
This would make a far better title for his book.
No, I guess I wasn’t clear, but I knew the quotes were from wikipedia. It’s probably anywhere from 10-15% of the text is in these quotes. But the quotes make zero sense - it’s clear the other info in the chapters is from wikipedia.
Each chapter is like a wiki article followed by one or two sentences of analysis.
LOL. Outrageously lazy. All he had to do was source the actual sources on the Wikipedia articles.
That’s basically how I wrote all my papers in highschool.
Hello RiskyFlush,
As Cuserounder pointed out, the book is sourced 80% from Wikipedia, and as you know it retails at $20. If the book contained 100% original material, we would have had to charge $100, which I am sure you’ll agree is unfair to our loyal reader base in this trying economic climate.
I hope this helps clear up any confusion.
Best wishes,
MM
The oddest thing I noticed after I posted that, is that some of the typos most have been added in the editing process.
In March he posted a preview of the TOC. It contained these two chapters:
https://www.twoplustwo.com/magazine/issue183/
Treachery as an Art Form: How Francisco Pizarro Got His Guest Incas to Disarm
Hernán Cortéz: The Luckiest Man Ever
However, the final version of the TOC he posted in May contained these two chapters:
https://www.twoplustwo.com/magazine/issue185/
Treachery as an Art Form: How Francisco Pizarro Go His Guest Incas to Disarm
Hernn Cortz: The Luckiest Man Ever
Only explanation I can come up with is that at some point they accidentally reverted to an earlier pre-proofread version of the TOC.
If anyone ever links this thread on there, I am soooooo banned.
I would tell you to post these on a MM gimmick if I didn’t think it’d increase your chances of getting sued.
Haha. It’s OK, I’m not in the US.
I’m sad I couldn’t work “I’ll let others elaborate” into either of those though.
The irony in that post is amazing
This was so well done that it didn’t hit me as Onion until the bolded text.
I even capitalised “Battle” for all you ingrates as well!
“Robert E. Lee was the best gambler to ever live akin to the greats of poker like Robert Varkonyi”.
Oh yea there’s a shitload of Lee in here. He brings him up in some chapters that have nothing to do with Lee.
