The main reason I haven’t gone all the way like that is that I’ve got to imagine most of them have friends or family who aren’t assholes and would be very sad by them dying. I would feel bad for those people.
But then think about people that don’t get vaxxed because of these assholes and how their families feel when those mislead people die.
Yes. It may not meet the level of consequence I’d like and it could be after most people have stopped caring, but short of Trump being reinstated and pardoning him, I don’t see anyone sticking their necks out to protect him.

I’m kinda putting the unvaccinated victims in the same category of the smoker who dies from lung cancer. Its too bad, but they knew the risk they were taking. They rolled the dice and lost. This may be a bit worse in that they could be taking innocent others down with them, though that’s not as likely now, as they can mainly just affect others who are unvaccinated.
Mainly but not only. There’s kids, people who can’t get vaccinated, and a small slice of vaccinated people who could still get very sick and/or die. If Covid is allowed to run rampant, plenty of these people (along with unvaxxed) will be harmed.
Framing needs to change from a “personal decision” to a public health decision that impacts the community around you.
I don’t usually feel bad for the unvaccinated person unless/until I read stuff from the grieving families - then all my schadenfreude instantly converts to rage at anti-vaxxer grifters and right-wing media.
Obviously if we were a fly on the wall in the room and saw the grieving family none of us (hopefully) would be laughing at the deceased. But it’s just a message forum, and we know they can’t hear us, so it’s a way to vent frustration at the whole stupid enterprise - imo.
It’s like the Darwin Awards once you remove time, distance, and a level of separation. Not funny anymore.

Yeah. This is definitely what makes this worse than the smoker with lung cancer. These folks are overwhelming hospitals and putting all of us in a situation where treatment may not be available when we really need it.

I think he’s just cosplaying as a sociopath and actually has a heart in there. A real sociopath wouldn’t be self-aware. Some people just have a higher threshold before their empathy kicks in.
It’s complicated. March 2020 I set the o/u on congresspeople dying from COVID-19 at 5. On the one hand I didn’t actually want 5 random people from that group to die. On the other hand, the only reason the over is still live is because of the biggest idiots and assholes in Congress.
That’s why it’s only even money.
Some people just need it to be personal before their empathy kicks in. But not for black people. Ever.
